Can youy tell mt he model number, as I think the one in the picture is mains powered with a 9v battery backup!

Is it one with a display, or like this one (KN-COB-B)?

Dont most councils give the one posted by sparks for free? Kirklees certainly do...

Yes exactly like the one in your photo rather than the one at the top of the link. Not sure who put the top link photo up because it was not me. The exact model number is 900-0259. Although box states these last 7 years mine has a replacement date of 06 2017 i.e. June 2017 so slightly longer than 7 years life.

Or here at Amazon - different model number but I think it is the same one. Gets good feedback from 29 reviews and is £14.99

Got one, great thanks.

Is it worth me getting one of these if I don't have a gas fire installed? I have central heating with a gas boiler located in the integral garage.

Thanks

I would say yes worth getting one and maybe position it near the boiler / flue. I don't have a gas fire but do have a gas boiler, however mine is in the Kitchen with the flue on the outer wall.

Also have these at B&Q (Nottingham branch anyway) for a tenner.

Yes I saw these in B&Q earlier for a tenner. Mrs. G picked one up from Asda for a tenner but it it is not night hawk just 'standard'. I guess they are much of a muchness.

Model no 9C05-UK.

Hmm, not sure if its all councils but for Kirklees, there is the "WarmZone" thing. You get free professionally fitted loft insulation and smoke alarms.

Yes ones in Asda look like 9C05 but have a different model number 900-0259 (this is also the part number) and definitely have Kidde Night Hawk on the box. Probably same thing but different model numbers, maybe Asda had them made especially or sourced from overseas.

If you have ANY gas appliance (or keep a car in an integral garage) a CO detector is well worth having. Ideally, there should be one on each floor - but having just one near the bedrooms will be most people's choice. It should NOT be sited too close to the boiler, flue or garage - but best read the comprehensive instructions included before fitting it.

I bought the Kidde Night Hawk (model 00-0259) as pictured from B&Q on Boxing Day for £10 (before any discounts) and it is a perfectly good item with a 7-year life. Batteries (included) are 3 x AA alkaline and will probably need replacement every year or so.

I doubt that any council provides free CO alarms - but some councils/fire brigades do give away smoke alarms - a different thing altogether.

By the way, if you don't have an alarm, just take a blood sample now and again. If it is bright cherry red, you have carboxyhaemoglobin and have been poisoned by CO - and are probably dead! :x
