Ive had one of these for about 2 years, but for me the biggest downfall is they have to be plugged into a mains socket and therefore less versatile,i never know where to plug mine in without trailing wires down the wall.yes i am sure they work very well.

Are you sure its not just SMOKE alarms that are free via the Fire Brigade? :?

Interesting .... these are the same units that somebody posted as todays special offer on Ebay! I got one then for about £12. It seems ok! it's a bit bulky though I'm not sure it HAS to be plugged in ... it certainly takes batteries too.

These are "Top Quality" and from a well respected Company. I am amazed that a reader reports that a Fire Brigade are giving them away "Free", normally they are "Smoke Alarms".Superb price, mine originally cost over £30.00. Voted Hot.

I saw these in Home Bargains yesterday. I didn't realise that they are plug in ones becase tbh they looked pretty bulky - I think that some people may have a job finding a suitable socket to put it into. We already have a different cm alarm so I didn't buy one, but voted hot for the price anyway - as I think these are a household essential .

Great price, we paid double for ours and its just like a smoke alarm so we dont have to plug it in just a 9v battery.. Hot from me.

I saw these and thought they were good pricewise, however I don't think they will be as useful as a battery powered one that you can place anywhere.

I remembered once seeing something on TV that said carbon monoxide detectors shouldn't be used near the floor (and most power points are just above the skirting boards).

]This article seems to agree

I think it has a wire connecting the adaptor to the unit, so you can locate it away from the floor if you wish.
