Thank you, ordered one.

What's a typical shelf life for them?

"End of Life Alarm Alerts user to replace the alarm after after a minimum of 7-years protection"

It also says it has a 6 year sensor life and a 7 year guarantee. So I would guess that the guarantee doesn't cover the sensor.
Or something doesn't add up.

Not exactly correct, they might give a minimum amount of years, I know my last one was 3 years. However the first one arrived with only 1 year left before the expiration date.

In other words it might have been sitting on a retailers shelf for 2 years before you buy it.

From Argos also?, or ..... thanx.

Why do you need a CO alarm? Surely if the gas boiler is properly fitted and serviced, it wouldn't be producing CO? Also aren't all boilers condensing boilers these days?

Other appliances such as gas fires/Back boilers are the main culprits for CO spillage.

Things go wrong! Quite simple really
Also log burners, when installed/tested all good, but seals can fade.
Caravans & motorhomes where gas hobs "eat" oxygen in the room and the user may've blocked vents to stop a draught etc.

CO is a silent killer.

Worth getting one, and ONLY a branded one.....

any better ones out there?

when its windy the wind blows through my boiler outlet flue and kicks off the CO alarm so even if fully serviced CO can still enter the room.

Better off buying this one which will work for 10 years (£15.84) instead of the Argos option for 6 years: https://www.electrical-showroom.co.uk/kidde-7dco-digital-display-carbon-monoxide-alarm-battery-operated

Did a basic comparison. If 6 years CO Alarm costs £10, a 10 years CO Alarm would cost £16.67

Buy 2 to avoid delivery charges.

Also, argos option is without a display screen. The Electrical Showroom option is a digital display CO Alarm.

Have you heard of the Dominic Rodgers trust? Setup by a mother who walked in to find her toddler son dead from CO poisoning. She didn't have a leak, her neighbour did.

CO is odourless. Things break. Simple really.

We suffered a C02 leak the evening of the day the engineer serviced the boiler!! We collapsed and had to be taken to hospital and flat was sealed off by the gas board. So you can't be too careful!
