In Supplement 16 of R44 04 (18.6mph) the seat is also subjected to a rollover test. All these tests are undertaken with dummies that represent the weight category of the child approved for the correct weight group of seat. Results of these tests must fall within the requirements of the Regulation. These seats just pass this test, so if you are going to drive at these speeds all of the time, I reckon you will be OK. If you've ever taken the foam sponge fabric cover off of these to seat what little construction there is to these generic moulded seats you will see how low the protection actually is.

The tests are actually not very good at all. The test only measures the movement of the child and not the forces transferred to the child's neck and spine. Even at low speeds in a forward facing seat these forces are huge, and enough to cause horrific injuries. Anyone buying one of these seats (or the equivalent with Mickey Mouse etc on them) needs there head tested.
Yes the child might think it's fun but safety should always be the priority.
If you want to keep you child safe look for a rear facing seat that has passed the swedish plus test.

Maybe they could bring out a range of Marvel/Disney wheelchairs for children left paralysed as a result of moronic parents buying seats like this.

^^^ exactly this, plus the lack of side impact testing so ensure you have a word with whoever is going to drive into you and request they don't do it from the side!

Read any reviews and they're probably all fantastic with "my kid loves the design" and "it's easy to move between cars" style comments but do a bit more research and buy a hbb that has been tested to more than the minimum standards.

Also these seats do not offer anywhere near adequate protection for 9 months old babies as advertised.

Surely safety and keeping a child alive should be the priority? In reality children don't know any different, if they've only ever been rear facing they're perfectly happy. I know a couple of six year olds who still rear face with no issues.

My 5 year old is in a rear facing seat, she never questions it being rear facing despite having an older brother and sister who forward face and a whole class full of peers at school who are either on a high backed booster or a backless one (there are a good number who have a backless booster unfortunately)

Not to be too pedantic but you'll notice I never said 'avoid'. I said …Not to be too pedantic but you'll notice I never said 'avoid'. I said 'driving in a way liable to be involved in an accident'. You can avoid braking needlessly hard and late, or driving up someone's backside. There's two for starters; add in your (perhaps stereotyping? ;)) example for a third. Can't legislate for idiots out there but there's no need to drive like Miss Daisy either, just drive appropriately for the conditions and your passengers. If I'm driving on 30/40mph built up roads with the bairn in the back of the family wagon, I'll drive differently to when I'm out for a b-road blast in the roadster on my own.

Google Joel's Journey - 18 month old child in a regular forward facing harnessed seat, in a collision at 35mph his neck was broken

agreed a toddler doesn't like a lot of things! Broken biscuits, naps but when it comes to safety you wouldn't let them play on the road just because they wouldn't like it if you stayed firm about it not being safe why would you approach a car seat any differently?
I totally understand that as they get older the infant carrier doesn't suit them but it's the seat not that it is rear facing. Infant carriers are very enclosed, restrict their view and are too low down to satisfy a growing babies curiosity. They get bored and annoyed.
I would recommend anyone who thinks upgrading to forward facing will solve these issues to buy a seat that can be fitted both forward and rear facing and try it rear facing first. They are much more comfortable in the bigger seat, can see out the rear window and if fitted behind the passenger seat they can see the driver as the sides are lower.
You might be surprised.

spend a bit more and get a seat from a reputable brand that do extra safety testing (minimum requirements are just 30mph forward impact and 18mph rear impact plus no side impact testing) - as an example britax first class plus - although double the price (halfords plus B17CS03 code), definitely worth the extra pennies.

Why cold? I was thinking of buying this as a spare car seat for holidays and days with grand parents without isofox. Is it not much good?

What do you mean by this? Is it dangerous?

Isofix reduces chance of human error but a belted rear facing seat is safest,

Isofix is only worth while before they use a high back booster. Once they're onto that the seatbelt does 100% of the work and the Isofix is just there.

Depends on your toddlers personality, these don't sit fully upright so some toddlers are not content with that. Wheels on the Maclaren XT are bigger making it easier to push a heavy toddler but also then takes up more space in the boot when folded. The XT is suitable from birth if you ever wished to reuse it. The g-luxe is probably lighter in weight though.

We had this stroller until it got pinched on the way back from a holiday. It was fantastic and served me and the wife well through 2 kids. Lightweight and a breeze to open and close. I'd say this is a very good price for a well built stroller
