Thanks Shelby who found a review on a past cruise:

“Kids' "Pirates & Princesses" Fun Cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2013

Took our two girls (aged 5 & 7) on one of the 'Pirates & Princesses' fun cruises - £10 per person (child or adult) for a non-landing day trip between Belfast & Cairnryan, depart Belfast at 11:30, returning 17:45. The kids get to dress up (two pirates here), and there are organised activities laid on onboard (treasure hunt, magic tricks, face painting and a few others, laid on in the Pod Lounge area) on top of the usual kids' facilities you'd get on a 'normal' cruise. A few years back, these used to be a 3-hr trip around Belfast Lough on a dedicated sailing, but now that it's on regular sailings, there are usually a few bemused-looking passengers trying to figure out what's going on as well.

While it's not exactly a relaxing cruise - the atmosphere in the Pod Lounge is best described as 'mayhem' for most of the crossing, with the kids doing plenty of running around - for what you pay for it it's a decent day out. The activities keep the kids amused for most of the crossing (colouring sheets are handed out to keep them busy during turnaround at Cairnryan, when the crew mostly disappear), while the Pod Lounge has the ship's cinema, iPads, Xboxes and other gadgets that can be played with during the trip - plenty to be getting on with.

Your ticket comes with discount vouchers for the on-board shop and restaurant, but there's no problem with bringing your own food on board and treating it as an extended picnic if you don't want to pay on-board prices. We used the restaurant on the return leg - service is a little slow but the food was good and prices not too extortionate (£23 for two adult & two kids meals with drinks).

My main worry with this was that 7hrs would be too long for the kids, and that boredom would set it, but that didn't prove to be a problem, and it turned out to be a fun day for them and not too stressful for the adults. There are other themed trips available (Superhero or Teddybears' Picnic) depending on what your kids are interested in. Definitely worth it, for all that it costs.

oh thats great thanks shelby xxxx

Aw great deal shame Belfast is too far get to for me xx

They ran from cairnryan to belfast last year as I took my 2 sons and daughter, so they must take it year about, it is a good day and there is lots going on x

Does any other company do this, looks amazing just a shame its only Belfast but looks fab!

I did the superhero cruise with my son and his chums for his birthday last summer. All day inc food for £15 per person, kids had loads to do while I sat relaxing with a coffee. Worked out cheaper than 2 hours in the local indoor play. Great day out, highly recommended! Well spotted Stacy. Now if you could find a cheap beach hol flying from Belfast in July I'd be even more impressed x

something from belfast YAY thanks a million

Brilliant!
