Kindle Fire HD 16gb - £149.00 (with voucher) @ tesco

Hi guys and girls,

Seems to be the cheapest you can get this for at the moment. Simply use code TDX-KJPW at checkout. Don't forget to also include the dash.

The code is for £10 off £50 spend, new customers only (create a new email address, shhh!!)

I'm not sure if I can post this as technically its a voucher but I know there will be a lot of people looking for a Kindle Fire HD deal that are unaware of this.

Thanks

Jim

got this deal few weeks ago took back n got a nexus 7 .. good find AGAIN

not a patch on the nexus 7

Thanks :-)

COLD - sorry but it's basically RRP unless you just happen to have never bought anything before from Tesco, or go through the hassle of registering a new account all over again just to save at tenner; and in that case it would serve better to buy direct from Amazon for the after sales cover ... or better still just buy a Nexus 7 instead which is a better all round device for the outlay ;-)

CHEERS THIS IS SO HELPFUL

that tables crap, who says ios is better than android and lightning connectors worse than a mini usb

Thanks

Rubbish scores in table. The info itself is helpful.

Still a good price though.

decent tablet let down by very poor apps store.

any android tablet lacking the google play marke is not worth buying.

get it from john lewis, for the 2 year warranty worth the extra tenner

good price...

What the table doesn't tell you is you won't get access to the Google Play store with the Kindle Fire HD; you'll only get access to the Amazon store.

If you get the Nexus 7, you get access to Google Play and you can also get access to the Amazon store if you want it.

Also, Nexus 7 has GPS. That may not be a factor for a lot of people, but if you want to do anything involving navigation, you really need that feature.

Amazon REALLY limit what you can do with your Kindle Fire HD because they want your money for content and application purchases. Hacking it is possible but very difficult (source: latest Micro Mart). With the Nexus 7, it isn't anywhere near as limited.

Having said that, if you are after a Kindle Fire HD, the deal itself seems to be a good one. Not voting either way.

If you have an American Express card, you can buy Waterstones vouchers for 20% off and pick up an Kindle Fire HD instore so approx £130 including the P&P for the delivery of vouchers.

Other users in the thread have brought HMV vouchers to pick up iPads so I imagine you could do the same at Waterstones with the Kindle. I don't think anyone else in the thread has tried this though.

Look at table above, make your own decision

The table is also wrong in some key areas, and questionable in others.

The Galaxy Tab 2 does not have a Tegra 2. IT has a Texas Instruments OMAP4430.

And who arbitrarily got to decide that iOS, and only iOS, would be in green? And why is 7.9" better than 7"?

And what is the 'score' at the end based on?

Regarding Play Store, I assume you can still install 1market on this? Any free app can be installed from here. It will also help on some devices where you can install apps that work fine but the Play Store think are incompatible.

I got a kindle fire for my daughters xmas prezzie when they plummeted to £99 ... I had a quick go with it and couldn't even find a google maps or youtube app on the Amazon store, which is ridiculous really given the OS it's running.

I don't get how people say these look good... They look like kids toys compared to the Nexus 7, Massive blocky bezel.

IMO worth the extra £10 for a Nexus for the faster operating system and access to both Google AND Amazon markets and apps. Why restrict yourself to Amazon only when you can have booth?

The ladies always say the bigger the better

I'd say that the Tab 2 has the better screen setup for movie watching, having had a chance to use all of these devices. It may have a lower resolution but the colours and screen quality more than make up for it and the micro SD support make it an ideal media device.

The Nexus 7 is faster and therefore better if you're looking at running newer games (though the Tab 2 has played everything I've thrown at it so far), and the iPad mini is good for those who already invested in a lot of iTunes content and prefer iOS (and is still a perfectly good device, there are just a lot of Apple haters out there).

Likewise, the Kindle Fire is really only useful for those who buy everything on Amazon. For some, the locking out of Google Play and lack of freedom is an issue, but for others it makes for an easier tablet to control.

You need to think about the buyer's needs before writing off a tablet because of your own preferences.

The chart's out of date for the Galaxy Tab 2 as it's is now updated to 4.1.1

looks an awesome device!

I got the Nexus 7 from the last deal posted but I can't get it to connect ("Authorisation Problem"), so can't complete setup. Does anyone know where I can find a solution? I've tried Google, and it turns out not to be an unusual problem, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. Everyone seems to try different things to sort it.

I'm on the point of sending it back, which I don't really want to have to do; but it's useless if I can't sort this.

Didn't have this trouble with the Galaxy Tab

Maybe you're using the wrong account/password. Not heard of that error before.

if sound quality via speaker is important to you the fire hd beats any of the others hands down

Heat Added, sadly I think my fiance has already bought me this for Christmas at full price!

Regarding the Kindle Fire HD the truth is different people like different things and different use means different required performance. The only way to choose the right tablet for you is to test it out in a store, research it and think about what you want it for. Personally I love films so the Xray feature is something I'm excited about and the HDMI out also. Anyway that just my feeling on this as the recent influx of 7" tablets has resulted in so very strong opinions.

Love to all and Happy Holidays HUKD!

why would any one buy kindle over nexus 7 considering everything you can do on a kindle can be done using nexus and it is more powerful and has access to play store.

The iPad Mini looks awful when you put it like that. Not a fan of Apple products anyway but wow.

Waiting on a Windows 8 'Blue' 7" tablet

Can easially be hacked.

That table is so wrong, where does it say ios is better than android anywhere. Up to the user. FACTS people FACTS!

Who cares! The Table is good info for the uninitiated... it's certainly helped me in my progress towards an informed decision.

I had a little play with a Kindle Fire HD in Tesco on Friday and I couldn't believe how bad and sluggish it was. Spend a little bit more and buy the Nexus 7.
