Stupid question but until recently I thought the Kindle Fire HD ran Android. What the heck do they run?

Yes its Android just Amazon's custom version.

Amazon use a heavily locked down version of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on the latest Kindle Fire's. Most people wouldn't be able to tell it runs Android.

I think a 32GB Nexus 7 would be a better purchase since you can still buy apps through the Amazon's App Store (if you want to) in addition to Google's Play Store. Also, Google Play Music is launching in the UK on 13th November. This gives you the ability to store upto 20,000 songs in the cloud for free. With Amazon's Cloud Drive you only get 5GBs of free storage and adding more is really expensive.

Hot, but Cold.

I'm afraid the price just isn't competitive enough.
It it were to undercut the Nexus 7's updated pricing it might, might, might worth be considering.

Decent reduction.

That reminds me I'll have to install the music app on this pc. I just hope it doesn't interfere with all the albums it uploaded from my other computer?

I don't get it why people compare products on hukd? i mean this deal is good because it is the cheapest u can buy this particular product. y vote cold because there is a better product available at a cheaper price? Obviously some people see this as the better product and want to buy this hence for them this is a very good offer. Please vote cold if u think the deal isn't good on this particular product and not compare it with other products as no one has the right to judge on everyone's part.

Exactly, sick of seeing nexus 7 posted in every tablet thread, i think most people must know that tablet inside out the amount of time some posters bang on about it

Good find.

I'm on the fence for both Kindle Fire HD 32G or Nexus 7 32G

The deciding factor could well be who has the best store and App costing for each?

Thoughts

Are you not bombarded with Amazon adverts when you switch this tablet on, that would drive me mad.

It costs an extra £10 to get rid of the adverts, although some people have managed to remove them for free by giving Amazon CS a call.

So far I haven't got any adverts. Am I missing anything?

I watched a video review of this tablet and they were very critical of all the adverts that appeared for no apparent reason. Perhaps it starts when you take interest in any of the Amazon shops / products. But reading some of the other post it seems it is possible to remove them.

OK - I have owned both N7 and KFHD

Each has pros and cons. It depends on your priorities and circumstances... which are well rehearsed across the internet. For me, if I had to buy either again then it would be the KFHD because I value lovefilm with HDMI out - but the price to be paid for that is less compatibility with new apps etc.

I have been using the KHFD from the day 1..
i must say i love it .. mainly for lovefilm..
not sure if the wireless is as fast as they claim though...
180.. mm price is just about right...
