That's the old version, this is for the latest version released a month or so back that is still £119 on Amazon.

Just checked and it says 'previous generation' but still a good deal at 20 quid off

Great minds...!

ive had an extensive look at the kindle and the galaxy tab 3.

i couldnt decide but after comparing i decided to pick the galaxy tab 3 because the kindle was being compared to the tab 2 and still losing out.

personal preference kicked in a bit but i hope this helps anyone stuck

For me personally, I was waiting for a price drop from somewhere on the new Kindle Fire HD as support for the new OS hasn't been confirmed on the previous gen. In particular I'm interested in the Kindle FreeTime as it's going to be a christmas present for little hands (to ensure they stay clear of my iPad!).

is the tab 3 a lot better than the hudl ?

EERRRRM it seems to be quite a powerful bitch of a tablet the hudl. its making me a bit sad after buying mine haha

if the specs are up to scratch and the battery life is good i say the hudl wins

Nice, hot!

Sorry for newbie question but is the tesco Kindle Fire HD better than this Fire HD on amazon:
amazon.co.uk/gp/…294
It will be a gift for christmas so want to make sure I get the right one.
Thanks

Thanks for posting. Have been waiting on a good deal for this and since I had some club card points kicking About I used them too. Not much dearer than the previous generation and with twice the memory.

Hot

hudl seems to beat both the samsung and kindle in most tests - the only test it loses is being associated with a supermarket - but lets face it Tesco is unlikely to have designed the internals and maybe hand some of a hand in the external design.

Hi, the one you linked to is the previous generation of Kindle Fire HD. This one for sale at Tesco is the most recent version. So for the same price, you're getting a newer, more powerful version of the same tablet.

Thanks, went for the tesco one in the end
Used the new customer £10 off voucher too so £89

Thanks!

I took my hudl back after 2 days...

looks and feels great (screen is nice) but performance is terrible

Slow and shuddery between screens, takes ages to load apps, when pressing home takes forever to redraw widgets and icons (also black background before the wallpaper finally pops up. Also don't even attempt to play any 3d games, even basic stuff like temple run and subway surfers is unplayable and jerky.

I was really disappointed

I would much rather have this kindle or tab over the hudl

opinion on this pls, shopping about for one under a ton.
specs seem good, either this or nexus 7 seeing that amazon and tesco dont give full access to play store without a hack.

Mmmmm how will this compare to the nook HD?

Pretty sure this Kindle is the version without a camera and some other features.

So even though this version is the latest version than the one offered on Amazon right now for £99, the older version actually has better specs I think.

Good read on that link, thanks for the share. It misses some key points for me though. The 3rd gen has a faster CPU & double the RAM. It also has the new Mojito OS which will include Kindle FreeTime, which was the main selling point for me personally. The 2nd gen has had no confirmation of having Mojito 3.0 being available.

I've got the older Kindle Fire, and just noticed FreeTime in my apps list when I went to install something. I didn't have a clue what it was

That's good to know, did you have to upgrade to the new OS to get the FreeTime app & have you tested it works?

I haven't tried it, as I didn't know what it was I literally just spotted it earlier and thought, what's that? I think maybe the Kindle updates itself sometimes, I've never done it.

Yes, it works

16gb version just gone up £139.99

Why has this been expired? The 8GB Kindle Fire HD is still £99 on Tesco Direct site. Yes, the 16GB version has gone back up in price, but that isn't the deal that's posted...

16GB is £129 again now (£119 after the £10 voucher)

This deal is Cold, ( 486 degress )This isnt a deal for the Kindle fire HDX, You can get a Hook HD 7 inch for £79 which has better spec and Display and can be easily rooted to get a full andriod experience. I got my Nook for £49 of ISME with the £30 of £60 spend for signing up with a Credit account which I paid off straight away.

I also was tempted, looked at 'Very' and there is still vouchers for £30 off, but on the one website it said that 'Very' will chase you months after you have purchased it to get the £30 back if you are not eligible, and if you don't pay, they give you a bad credit.. not worth the hassle, although i would love it for that price. My son has the Nook hd+ and it is excellent for the price.

This isn't a deal for the HDX, you're correct. I never said it was?!?! It's a deal for the new version HD.

How is it a cold deal? It's £20 off Amazon's price for the same product. Please don't turn the thread into Kindle bashing one. Just because you don't like a Kindle, doesn't mean others feel the same. Having your own opinion is fine, however many people do like the Kindles & therefore see this as the good price it is.

Not sure if this will help anyone but the new Kindle Fire HD is currently £119 at Argos but today only they are giving away £20 argos vouchers with it that have to be spent on or before Chrismas eve. Same goes for most other tablets too.

Got nothing to do with a kindle bash,Never had a Kindle m8, I am making aware to people that there is better alternatives out there for cheaper with better specs thats why in my eyes its a Cold deal. Dont take it to heart that people dont agree with you!
