Fantastic deal!

Blinding, cheers!

Usual price is £99.

So you are buying a second hand kindle for £79

The £99 is the "With Special Offers" version - This is is the ad free version

This or the Nook?

This or the Nook?

With the nook having access to the Google play store and not a snowball in hells chance of Amazon doing the same, then it is no contest. The nook HD is the best bargain around at the moment IMO.

Actually, my order says...

"Certified Refurbished Kindle Fire 7", LCD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB - With Special Offers"

I've got no problem buying 'certified refurbished' but with only a £20 saving, I think I'll be sending this one back..

Nook has hi res screen and a micro SD slot. Kindle will likely be supported for longer though!

I'm biased as I have nook HD, HD+ and simple touch...

Yeah, I was about to shoot on this (cracked the screen of my Archos Cobalt in my suitcase last weekend), but then I saw "With Special Offers" get added at the checkout.

1024x600 is just not enough any more. For a bit more, you can get a Nexus 7, which is better all around.

Its a bit miss leading lovefilm only works on the Kindle Fire HD

Oh what, it's not even the Kindle Fire HD?

Not worth it then as you can pick-up the HD one for this price on fleabay! (all be it second hand)

Checked with Amazon rep. Confirmed it's the with offers version but once you've received it you need to contact them and they'll unsubscribe you from the offers turning it ad free

But the ones on fleabay don't come with Amazon warranty

The HD ones are going on Fleabay for this price second hand, so NO "Not like these then"

buy a brand new nook hd......

The Nook HD is the better buy (new for the same price) but IF you want a Kindle Fire and you want it from a reliable seller then its a good deal. There will be some people who want the simplicity and support that Amazon can offer with the Fire so I think the deal deserves some heat.

Well it looks like it's £30 off their current price - which is £10 more than they are currently selling the HD version. oO

Madness.

I saw the Kindle Fire HD on offer at Tesco (instore) last night, also £99. I think all versions were £30 off.

False economy buying this as you'll want to upgrade within no time, if it's not through lack of capacity it will be for screen resolution. Far better alternatives for only £20-30 more.

How does this compare to the Tab2? Have one but its a little slow at times...

I would go for tab2 any day cause you would have to root Kindle Fire to make the most out of it.

Was thinking of getting this Kindle Fire but then discovered it has no bluetooth. Important for me to use headphones for music//films. Surprised it hasn't got BT

The Nook HD has bluetooth. With access to the google play store, in addition to a gazillion other apps, you can even install the official amazon kindle app if you absolutely must.

I bought one of these for £99 last Christmas for Dad.
He loves it.
He uses it for browsing the internet, checking and replying to emails, a few games etc. daily.
It's not great for reading books due to the eye strain on backlit screens but he has a normal kindle for that anyway.
For simple functions it's great.

Personally I find the screen too small (I'm used to an ipad sized screen which I think it perfect) and I wouldn't want to downgrade to a kindle fire from my ipad but at 4x the price it was out of my price range for Dad.
