when are the new versions due to be released?

Save your money with this average tablet and either wait for the next kindle (fantastic specs) that should be out this year, spend a bit more and get a better tablet (Nexus 7) or if you're on a budget pick up the Hudl from Tesco that's out today (or should be).

Been waiting for the prices to drop. Thank you for sharing this deal will have a very happy child at Christmas

see my post for the hd+ 32gb which is cheaper than this

Your better off getting a old Nexus 7 for the money.
The kindle fire hd os is meh (based on Android 4, but looks and feels 4 years older), you have to pay to remove the ads and it costs more.

responding to the new Hudl from Tesco?

Ive got the kindle fire hd myself (32gb ) . After the initial period of getting certain things to run on it I find this is a great tablet . Feels nice to hold, and easy on the eye. You won't be disappointed with it imo

added to main post that you also get amazon prime free for 1 month

They are already released in the States so should be soon in UK.

Would have thought it be better to wait for Black Friday at this point...

Woohoo tablets really are taking off now, must admit I was sceptical a few years ago... Hopefully Tesco's effort will continue to drive prices down.

I think prices will fall somewhat.
Also, you'll need help to hack the kindle fire hd to get Google Play installed, otherwise you'll be paying for apps from amazon which are free on G Play.

The funny thing about tablets is before the first wave of craziness about them with the ipad, I said they would never take off, who would want a computer without a keyboard I said? I also said that of smartphones and while I was absolutely wrong, at the back of my mind I always kinda knew because in every science fiction movie ever, they use tablets. I just didn't think we were that far into the future yet.

Despite being a complete nerd tech head I am wrong about technology trends most of the time.

I also said Google would go out of business within its first year.

And texting was a fad

so what do you think the next flop will be? Preferably something I can invest in.

The Tesco Hudl is selling at £119 as well. That and the new one coming out soon is the reason for the price drop.

Vapoorise!

It's a spray, your pet does its business and you spray it with va-poo-rise and it disappears!

Where does it go? nobody knows! available from JML

Good price, but ad's and no Play.

I'm with you on that one. A spray that makes your pet disappear just because it made a mess does seem a little harsh. Then again spray it on your neighbours cat who keeps soiling your garden and I think we are on to a winner.

Whats so special about the Hudi then?

My initial excitement over it has worn off now I know the exact processor its using but skipping that for a moment. It's got all the bells and whistles of a really modern tablet with a low price tag and its not loaded down with bad software, ala your Amazon tablets. So there's no need to start talking to that nerdy guy at the office that knows how to root things. (that's me btw) The only fly in the ointment is the processor, which isn't bad, it just doesn't make you coo as you use it.

In summary. The Hudl is like a Bounty bar, looks a bit exotic until you start eating it, the Kindle HD is like a Yorkie, you know what you're getting, you know it'll make you sick but its your Yorkie and damnit you're gonna eat it and the new Nexus 7 is like a Milky Way, it's small and neat, the treat that won't spoil your appetite between meals.

probably better to avoid the kindle and get your normal android tablet and then add the kindle app for major major ftw

wouldn't touch these, always a charging problem after warranty runs out

I've only got the old Nexus from last year which isn't so great anymore. It still works. If only it would break I could get the new one!

How does this compare against a "Nook HD+" I can get a refurbished nook HD+ with a 9 month warranty for £85

Is Nexus 10 worth for £270? I found below, but not sure how reliable this store.

No doubt the Nexus is a great tablet, same cant be said of Asus customer service, they are truly shocking

I have to stick up for ASUS here - bought a second hand Nexus 7 in January, charging problems (well documented) in April and July, both times called up and had it sent away and repaired within a few days. No dramas. Speak as you find I suppose ....

Poor reviews on this store - would recommend knowing where they are based and who owns them before even considering using them .. buyer beware..

Cheers mate.

This code was just emailed to me for my friends and family to get 10% off a kindle.
