Very tempted. I've ordered a second hand one in A condition from CEX but it's 2016 model for 45quid
Was £50 a few months back so hoping it will go back to 50 or less next week

no harm nor foul in waiting I suppose
Should I wait a bit longer for it to go down? Or are these the finals prices from amazon?
Seems to get poor reviews as far as battery life is concerned :/

Might as well buy now (I have) because you've got until 31 Jan to return it if the price drops further.

Better resolution, 300dpi if it is 7th gen, the one on offer is 167dpi

Or delay shipping to next week. If it drops further cancel existing order and reorder.

(Select prime day shipping and amend day to as far away as possible)

I cannot see Amazon upsetting so many buyers by reducing the price further during the Black Friday offer period.... It would just cause lots of returns and reordered kindles..
Remove the 'special offers', i.e. Advertisments Amazon.

It’s been £49.99 two months ago.

Regardless of that... They are unlikely to reduce the price further Again, during This offer period..... Eg during black Friday.... But maybe cheaper next time they have a new offer period.
What's the difference between this and paperwhite? Both read in the dark and this is much cheaper?

Paperwhite is HD resolution, waterproof, bigger storage.
Can anyone advise? My wife is after something to read on at home at night, would this be the one to go for? She doesn't need it for on the go and can't decide between getting one of these, the paperwhite or just a fire tablet.

My requirments are the same as your wife... This is good for her needs I don't think the paperwhite is worth the extra...

Order one now at the current price, if the price drops order another one at the new lower price and return the original order for a refund.

This is perfect to read at night. Resolution is good and led light can be adjusted. 4gb of space is plenty for thousands of books.

Return policy on amazon is 30 days. You can request to return it, they send you a postage label and you can drop the product off at one of the ups drop off locations (shops like centra etc) and then you get the money refunded.
Wow that's still really rather expensive.

I was hoping for £45 given recent prices for this device...

I'll just stick with my tablet.

Same. It was priced at 45 a couple of months ago and I was hoping for a similar price on black Friday. Maybe cyber Monday will do the trick.

Considering how cheaply they pump out their 7" tablets for and how basic this Kindle is I'm surprised that they're not £40 RRP...
Disappointed by the reduction here, want to get one for my dad but i'll hold on and see if it drops a bit further in the coming weeks as I don't need it until Christmas.

Got my mom the 7 and for her it is OK but I would go crazy. Way too slow. This kindle is OK for 45 but not more.

I'm comparing the two devices in terms of value on how much they cost to produce respectively as opposed to how well they perform their quite different functions.

This Kindle is made up of really low end parts as it only has to run a greyscale screen, stores very little and processes very little.

Assuming the screens themselves aren't really expensive for what they are then they can probably produce these Kindles for peanuts.

Sure. Just like all other products on the market. The markup is always super high. But if you just need a device for reading the kindle is very good. I had some other ereader before and the software was just not that great.
