I disagree, JL may be 2 yeats warranty but someone might have a 10£ Argos voucher left off and it is useful to be aware you can get it there also Argos offers some cashback deals while JL doesn't.

Different shops and different priorities, it is a good price for the device.

Nah, in most cases they are happy to remove it for you for free (as an exception that will happen once per account but nothing is stopping you making a new account asking them to remove and then register for your real account...)
same price on Amazon....I know where I'd prefer to buy from
well, my last paperwhite has just died after 22 months of daily use. a common problem of frozen at the startup screen, tried all the forum advice i could find, nothing can reboot it. amazon customer service don't want to know.
looking for a new one now, and i know it will be from john lewis. you can keep your extra £10 or so argos vouchers, that 2 year warranty is a must for these.
I can't rate the 2015 Paperwhite highly enough. Its brilliant with a boom case

I agree. Mine did the same, after just over a year. After a huge fight with Amazon (when I argued it should have a longer life expectancy) they agreed to replace it. Then I noticed they were sending out a reconditioned model (they hadn't mentioned this small fact at time of agreeing replacement). When queried, they informed me it's in their T&Cs that they can replace any faulty Kindle with a reconditioned one. So, John Lewis gets my vote on this, with their 2 year warranty as standard (by the way, Argos disputed that any retailer is offering a 2 year guarantee, despite me sending them the link to prove).

Does anyone know if JL can issue a refurbished model replacement Kindle, in the event it should die within the 2 year warranty period?

reading this, it looks like they might not try to repair it and replace it.
as it doesn't say refurbished, it looks like they will replace with a new one.
i hope i never have to find out of course.

Only comes with subtraction unfortunately.
£79.99 if you have Amazon Prime Now in your area.
I've been thinking of a kindle for a while, but I'm a bit apprehensive as I have a huge catalogue of pdfs from various sources that I'd like to bring over - I've heard it's a pain to get things working on kindles if you haven't bought from amazon?

Also is the voyage fidelity worth the extra money? (im a videophile when it comes to monitors and TVs)
Do Tesco do price match? I've got a voucher burning a hole in my pocket!

You can download a free and very easy to use program called Calibre to your computer. This converts any format of Ebook (including PDFs) to kindle format. Then just drag and drop onto your kindle. Get your books from anywhere you like, convert, and read!

You don't need to do any converting for PDFs. They give you your own kindle email address, just email any PDF files you want on your device to that email address and they will sync up. I believe it's only other ebook formats like ePub that require reformatting before sending.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Thank you!

Under EU law, you should get a 2 year warranty. Though most retailers still like to pretend that it's only 1 year because of UK law (still not necessarily true).

i'm never sure about that, and good luck trying to continue the argument when the shop has closed the matter.
anyway, by the summer we won't be sticking to EU law, will we?
