A new model coming soon?

Good find OP, heat added. Worth noting though that this is the first gen Paperwhite (2012 version).

The Voyage isn't a replacement for the Paperwhite - it's a top end model with the PW a mid-range device.

Ordered for home delivery @ 3.95, have also tried to price match at John Lewis

Is this the previous generation? Seems almost too cheap when the Wi-Fi Paperwhite is £99 from Amazon!

This is the 2012 model. Pretty sure there is a 2013 model, not sure what the difference is.

Improved display resolution and backlight, 25% faster processor for quicker page turns and the ability to add notes and highlights, page flip feature to skip back and forth, word lookups and a social portal.

Is this moddable? Can it be loaded with android?

You can root them and mess about with them.

But I've never heard of anyone trying to load different OS, not sure why you would want to do that on a device with an e-ink display.

You might be thinking of the Kindle Fire, which is a tablet and a completely different animal. There is a Cyanogenmod Android for the Fire.

Nothing ruins good book more than 0.2 second page turn times.

Voted this up then realised it was the 2012 model, didn't think you could even get those anymore.

Here's a video comparing the 2012 version to the current version...

My personal preference is getting the newer version of wifi only and using my iphone or Netgear Aircard as a wifi/4G hotspot rather than getting older hardware.

You may have a different perspective

Just had an email from John Lewis confirming they'll price match at 83.95

With a nook you can load Android onto it. Thought this would be similar. Guess not!

Wokingham and Bracknell both had 1 in stock

Exactly can't find anything else apart from WiFi version

2013 build quality was rubbish. Sent four, yes four, back and got a kobo aura instead.

If this is the 2012 model, it's very misleading for the OP to say that it otherwise costs £169.99 - the 2012 is TWO generations out of date. I had the 2012 and now have the 2014 Voyage model and there is a significant difference between them - not least that the latest one is made of glass and magnesium instead of the old plastic and more plastic.

£83.99 might be a fair price for this, but def is not a low price for it.

I am not keen on the paperwhite, my grievances are: other stupid things pop up on the page (notes/highlights etc) when I am trying to turn a page; can't turn a page on any side of pw like the older kindle I had with forward/back buttons on both sides.

Is this new voyage model much improved?

The Voyage is a higher model to the paperwhite. It has a better finish using higher quality materials for a premium price.

These have been two changes to the Paperwhite from what I can see. I've posted the 2012-2013 vide and in 2014, they doubled the storage from 2gb to 4gb.

can not see any in London, so voting cold fleeping argos

Got one reserved but I am not convinced.

Will probably stick with my £30 Nook

I've had notification that one will be delivered tomorrow, but am now having second thoughts

Not to mention accidentally pressing things on touch screen when you try to hold this in one hand. That's exactly why I kept my kindle keyboard and returned this bl***y touchscreen nonsense.

Missus has nook, I have kindle. Book prices in Amazon store are much lower, removing DRM and converting them to Nook is PITA. Also Nook doesn't seem to have any kind of syncing between devices while I can read something on my kindle reader and pick up where I left on the phone when I want to.

Amazon also has nice free conversion tool, just email any pdf, doc, you name it to your kindle email address and voila - ready to read on your device in seconds.

I'm using a Klever Case with my Paperwhite - it effectively makes it look like regular book and you end up holding the case like a regular book.

Expensive but nice looking and made in the UK by a small company.

Does it convert? I thought it supported doc, pdf and txt anyway so even if you copied them via USB it would stil work.

It won't convert an ePub file though.

This post is quite misleading, the 2012 model was on offer over black friday at Tesco for less than what is being quoted here. If it was the 2014 model then fair enough, however the only model currently £169.99 is the Voyage, not the Paperwhite.

You could just upload document but converted ones seem to work better (page breaks etc. are tidier), it also synchronizes them with cloud (under 'documents'), so you can download these anywhere.
