Nice, have some heat. Been looking out for a price drop on these for a Christmas present. Not sure whether to jump in at this price or gamble if Amazon do a good black friday offer.

Just bought one for £110. D:

Might ask for a refund then

This is normally the Black Friday price reduction, they're a month early

Thanks OP. I was expecting to have to wait until Black Friday for this. My 6 year old Kindle "died" in September and Amazon applied a 15% off code to my account if I bought a new one, so just ordered one and got another £13.50 off this price.

Exactly. I've been holding out until Black Friday to buy one, but last year this was the same price drop. Tempting.

I had a quick look at camel camel camel and it looks like it dropped to £79.99 on Black Friday last year, and the year before that too. Doesn't sound like it's too unrealistic to expect it to drop to the same level this year?

Tell Amazon. Even if it's out of warranty I wouldn't be surprised if they replace it for free. They have done for me in the past and are usually pretty willing to sort things out when there's issues with an Amazon brand product.

Regarding the special offers, I bought mine last year on Black Friday with the Amazon 'special offers' installed on it.

I did some research and someone said that you could claim it back. I went into a chat session with Amazon and simply said "I have ads on my Kindle and I understand that I can't claim them in the UK".

The representative did something his end and then said "As requested, Special Offers have been disabled from your Kindle device. Due to the circumstances, I have made a one-off exception to our normal policy and processed this request free of charge. Please ensure that wireless is enabled on your device to complete the process of unsubscribing from Special Offers".

I'm not sure whether it'll still work but it costs nothing to try!

Good Luck

I feel you man. I'm really tempted by the Kindle Oasis, but I can't justify it, as my first gen Paperwhite keeps going and going and going. I've had it since 2012 I think, use it just about every day, and the battery refuses to give up. I think it was built to last until the end of time...

Excellent deal, heat added.

I think Amazon dropped the price because they’re releasing the New kindle on Oct. 31

Do you think it is worth paying £260 or the new one !

What did you mean you "can't claim them" in the UK? The ads on mine were for UK products.

I chose to get them removed and paid the £10. Really quite tight to lie about something to save a tenner

What power adaptor / charging lead do I need please. Is it some special one or will a 2A normal android tablet charger work please?

Any will work

My kindle of 8 years (still going strong) but fed up of having to attach a little torch to it to read. However I've over 100 books download onto it and ensure where my disc is with the back ups on 🤔 think ill wait for Black Friday and hope it comes down again 🤞

Is this worth the upgrade from the standard £59.99 Kindle? Is the only difference the backlight?

Genuinely interested to know how you're breaking yours - sounds like you might have been terribly unlucky.

I've put my paperwhite through absolute dogs abuse in the 3ish years I've had it and it's still going strong. It's been dropped, had drinks spilled on it, been launched across rooms by overenthusiastic children and been around the world with me and still looks fairly acceptable and is perfectly readable.

If you notice the difference between refurbished and new you deserve some kind of medal. I’d just get refurbished again.

Any. I use the PlayStation controller one if can’t find amazon cable.

when i got mine a year ago, i contacted amazon and they removed the ads for me since i was a prime member.

Does anyone know if this is a permanent price drop, if not when does this expire?

Download Calibre and connect the Kindle to your PC. Easy to extract all the books off it and copy them to a new one. Of course if they were bought from Amazon there’s no need, they’ll all be in your Kindle library ready for download.

In fairness I've had it about 5 years. But a new kindle every 5 years still isn't great value for money. Only thing I can think of is maybe reading in the bath on rare occasions breaking it with the steam. But I dunno

I just bought this from Very this morning, used code 3YGFM for £20 off (credit back to account, has already been processed) so £69 plus £3.99 next day delivery. Will be here in the morning

Tempted to get this, but keep reading articles about there being some big leap in ereader tech coming in 2018, something about clearink and a new processor?

I've not heard about clearink, but as far as a new processor, not sure how much better that would be, I have one, works great, like it.
What would a processor increase do, turn the page faster, it's already pretty instant.

Have it, love it.

My 2014 PW is still going strong, I think the functional changes which would motivate a change (other than replacement) would be the addition of colour and/or a larger reading area. An extra 1 / 1.5 inches diagonally would work better for me personally.

Their last Nook e-reader released is Nook Glowlight Plus but I don't think it's cheap. Kobo Glo HD was released around the same time in 2015 but it has since been discontinued so is probably more expensive than Kindle Paperwhite. I can't see any alternatives to be honest, Kindle is the way to go and while I like reading from Cool Reader on my Nook, Calibre will do the trick too

I'm in no hurry to upgrade though, I will wait until the battery is close to dying :P

Should I get kindle paperwhite or wait till black Friday for the all new kindle oasis?
(All new Kindle oasis has audible built in)

Just lost my kindle (basic 2016 one) a few days ago. Not sure if i should go for this, or wait for the basic kindle to go down on price, or wait for a new basic kindle?
Is there a chance we'll get a new version soon?
