Kindle Paperwhite, reduced to clear £54.00 @ Tesco in store

I know it's probably only a rare thing, maybe this is the only one in the country, but I also know we have HUKDers in and around Devizes. I don't need another kindle, but I'm sure someone might. Am in process of uploading photo.

Wow, never spotted that. Do you reckon it's a joke? I've seen people print out funny SELs before.

Ah, just looked at original photo, it also says "Highest price charged, where stocked," it refers to where and when the original price was charged.

Devizes, Wiltshire. And it's a Tesco Metro.
Could be a version one
Anyone know if the real world battery life on this is any good? I have a Nook Simple Touch and the battery life is a few days, which is a disaster.

obv depends on usage. I have this and battery lasts couple of weeks if used couple of hours a day.
Very tempted but my Tesco is a long journey away. Hopefully others confirm it is nationwide.

I had this issue, and it was very upsetting really. I de-registered the Nook, and I registered again and updated to 1.2.1: nook.com/gb/…tes
It now holds 1 month, and no draining at all.
I hope this helps.

Poor. Buy a kobo aura. It beats the small amazon billboard in every dept.

A disaster would be filling it with Tuna Brine and leaving it in a Cattery.

At least a few days gives you time to plug your electric eel in.
I have a rooted nook simple touch glowlight and must say after a bit of easy modding its a good buy at £49.99!
Were there many left? We are wuite close, will go up in the morning and have a look. Thanks for posting.

There was just the box on the high shelf upstairs opposite the dvds. I presume you take it to the till and they get one out of the locked cabinet.

Plus, worth looking at Kindle fire HD 16Gb £79 Although I didn't see any sight of them in Devizes.

Wow; serious? My Nook lasts around 3 weeks with light on at average 3 hours a day. When reading throughout Summer (ha ha I know, what summer?) without the backlight it would last around 5-6 weeks.

With the nook I've found the occasional quick battery drain can be avoided by after charging opening a book and turning a page. It always seems to happen to me when I just unplug it and leave it.
Great price. The lighting I must say is flawless no pinks spots or uneven lighting... The battery on mine lasts about 1 month with say 2 hours worth of reading a day. With light off in daylight and 4 bars of light at night.
Got a nook simple glowlight off ebay (refurb) a few weeks back. Rooted it but hated it. Was slow and glitchy and the kindle app was poor as you couldnt adjust font sizes or types. Restored it and sent it back. If I could find this kindle offer I would be very happy.

I noticed the same thing on my nook. Font size adjustment is a joke, it goes from unreadable tiny to very large in one step, all the other font sizes are about 2 percent different than the previous or the next one. I have tried everything including reformatting the book in Calibre and changing the font there, it only works with some books. It has a good battery life but I cannot read books on it ........
amazing deal if this is nationwide. anyone else found one?
Got one this morning in Devizes, thanks OP husband is very happy! They had sold 4 by 7.30!!

Not sure about the authenticity of this deal. £109 in my local Tesco Extra.
Just got 2. They have about 10 left.

When you register them on amazon, it's well worth considering the 3 year warranty thing, I got it on mine, it's £19.99 and seems to cover pretty much everything, it even covers theft now.

Scanned on price checker? Or looking at shelf label?

Sadly it looks like it. I think they must find all the stock of clearance items and ship them to just one store. It happens so many times with Tesco. Which is great if it's your local store and cr*p for everyone else.
In reference to other readers, I can't comment on the Nook. But I do have a Kobo Touch, while the rest of my family has the basic Kindle. I wish I'd got a Kindle. Much as someone said about their Nook above - slow, glitchy. The touchscreen is worthless as sometimes the slightest brush turns two pages and sometimes I have to stab it repeatedly with my finger to get it to turn one page.

I've no idea what the Paperwhite is like, but the above has put me off of touchscreen ebook readers. I wish Amazon had put physical buttons on the 2014 version like everyone had asked for.

It's cheaper but my Nook doesn't refresh the page properly until the 3rd page turn.....resulting in ghost text on the screen
My wife's Kindle doesn't have this issue.

I can live with it but only because I've accepted that it was half the price.

The Nook is more kid styled - with the big thick rubberised framing....the kindle has a bit more grown up feel.

I don't have this version (a paperwhite) but an older version (the type with the keyboard at the bottom) and mine lasts at least a month without charging, maybe 5 weeks or so. Basically, ages. Not sure if the paperwhite display is better or worse for battery life...
