Usually 24 hrs

So if you can buy it for the same price at Sainsbury's, why go through the bother of paying the full price, then writing all these emails and then waiting for a refund? Genuinely confused

Wow this is news to me, Jl price match? Quick everyone vote this hot like there's no tomorrow
Seriously there's no need for these Jl and pcw/currys price match 'deals', it's nothing new and not a 'deal'.

Hey which is your local store?
to be on safe side I'll put the same address and contact number.

Just use link above, get the tel/address of your local and submit it. As you have to provide your own post code as well it doesn't make sense to use OPs local details.

I'm pleased this person listed this deal. I've no way of getting to a Sainsburys and although I knew JL price-matched, I thought it had to be an online deal. Big heat from me

I have a kindle paperwhite And love it! Looking for a kindle voyage now anyone seen them less than £169?

Submitted the price match request... Will wait and see if it works for me... need qty 2 for the kids.

JL's after sales service is second to none. Where possible I always try to buy from them. I always request price match and go out of my way to collect if necessary. I rarely need to follow up on items, but the reassurance of knowing that the manager is not going to drag you through the coals for a faulty item (which has not been caused by you) has no price.

Thank you for your email.

I can see there has been some miscomunication of our policy.

Unfortunately, here at John Lewis.com, we deal with online price matching for items purchased through the website rather than in store price matches - this has to be done via your local branch as we are different parts of the John Lewis company.

We are more than happy to price match claims when the item is available for purchasing online but we are not able to price match on behalf of a John Lewis store due to restrictions in the business. These restrictions are in place to enable the company a greater control over stock and allow for better customer service, rather than centralising a larger amount of stock.

We have a process called Local Price Matching, which can be done through your local John Lewis branch. To do this you can visit your local branch or alternatively call one of our branch advisors on your local stores number, who will be happy to help you process this price match.

Whichever of these options (by calling or visiting the branch) is best for you, we can still arrange a delivery for you to your home address if it would be more convenient for you.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any more assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Sadia Hussain

I am looking for the simple touch one which is about £50

Which john Lewis did the price match?

I have a kindle which I love. But have just bought a Nook because you can read library ebooks on the nook.

Shouldn't this deal be hot for Sainsburys instead of John Lewis? I like John Lewis but in examples like this there's still a lot of honest customers going in and buying the product at full price, if John Lewis now know that it's £39.99 in Sainsburys surely they should just match their price and remove the additional steps which a handful of customers will be aware of, after all they are 'Never Knowingly Undersold'. There's an option on the site to claim on products you've already purchased too, sounds great but why not just refund customers the money back even if they don't claim?
Rant Over...... heat given as it's a great price if you can be bothered to go through the process and wait 24hrs, otherwise go to Sainsburys?

What's the difference between a Nook and a Kindle?

I got my wife a Nook Simple Touch with Glow Light last Christmas. A dyed-in-the-wool book lover, she knew she'd end up moving reluctantly to an e-reader at some point, although it was a bit of a gamble. I needn't have worried: she absolutely loves it and uses it all the time (often with the Glow Light, so getting the illuminated version was a good move). She also likes the fact that she's not tied to Amazon for her books, as she would be with a Kindle. Admittedly, however, the Kindle Paperwhite probably had a slight edge in screen quality at the time.

The good news is that the new model of Nook Glow Light has just been reviewed by Which? magazine and it gets a great review. It scores 5/5 for overall performance, screen quality and ease of use, putting it ahead of the Kindle Paperwhite.

That said, neither the Paperwhite nor the Glowlight is in the same price bracket as the deal above, so heat added.

I have bought a Blackberry Playbook to act as a Kindle. It doubles up as an Alarm Clock with a free rapid charger included. Shall be buying a power bank to increase the battery life which is the same as a Kindle Fire anyway.
Books in colour - rather nice !

Poor. Im not a tech junkie but even i wouldn't take this over a more modern reader for this price. The Kobo aura can still be had for £30 more and its vastly superior. Cold.

agree with both of your points:
- it's a Sainsbury's "deal" not John Lewis at all (especially since it's since been confirmed it's instore only too)
- and their "Never Knowingly Undersold" is complete nonsense anyway as they now know they are overpriced and aren't changing their pricing.
