This giant secure delivery box will take the largest sized Viking Direct boxes, so you do not have to be at home any more to accept deliveries. It uses a barcode system that the couriers or Royal Mail can scan, they then lock the box and you open it when you get home. They can be free standing or fixed to walls and floors. Useful for all readers of Hot UK deals, because we all buy stuff online!

I know this is good value because they sell at hippo-box.co.uk/hip…=h1 for £233+ without the £5 barcode card which comes free with Viking. Viking has them at £149 until recently, because their Froogle feed of 27 March 2007 shows a price of £149.99, which is what I paid 6 months ago.

The box is very good quality and robust. I just wish I had it for this offer price!

PS: Remember to go through Quidco, currently Viking seem to be giving 6% discount, not 5% as stated in Quidco. So your total checkout price should be £117.49 inc vat but if you use Quidco it should be £110.44 after you take the cashback into consideration.

PPS: - the box also has a "Green" element. Less wasted delivery miles.

I have added another type of box known as a Parcel safe. If this is too big for you, look at the other one, which is only £35 delivered.

Ummm, what an interesting idea!

Great idea, good find

How does the barcode thing work? (is it instead of signed delivery?)

Each card has a unique barcode, which can be scanned. The barcode has numbers written underneath, which can be written down if the courier does not have a scanner.

You can add 2 numbers at the end in felt pen, to customise it for a particular day or delivery. You also get stickers to place in windows, on doors etc, and little printed notes to leave in the box which say "dear courier, yes you can leave it here" or something like that, and sign it.

its a good idea, but AFAIK it only works for one delivery.

i.e, you go out, parcelforce come along and leave an item in there, great, but then city link come along and can't put a parcel in there because it's locked.

Have a look at the deal I just posted, a Parcel Safe. I have both, that is a compromise solution. The real solution is to have a box that has a one way flap, that can be accessed from inside the house. Ideally houses should be designed with them built in. It would save everyone a lot of time and hassle. Shall I start a petition on the No 10 website? :giggle:

Thanks! Its the second one actually, the first one was not so hot, it was just re-using and old Interflora code that now seems to give 10%

I am not sure if someone at Viking is having a laugh, but as of 31 March (no it's not 1 April yet), if you click on the deal link, then the Viking at home link, you get presented with the King Hippo Box at the slightly increased price of just £11,749.99. I tried this on a fresh PC, ie no cookies stored. If you try a search for H24-HIPPO you should get the same.

Do I get a special award for finding the biggest discount ever?

Oh by the way, Q23-HIPPO still gets the deal, so save yourself eleven and a half thousand quid while you can!

PS I have just been playing around with the H24 prefix, and it gives everything at complete rip off prices, much dearer than the standard Q23! Maybe this code is used in a catalogue for Arab Oil Sheikh, LOL!
