About the Game

You're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family. Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!

Story:

Bohemia – located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart.

One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.

In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.

Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.

Features:

  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics.
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions.
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless.
  • Character development: Improve your skills, earn new perks, and forge and upgrade your equipment.
  • Dynamic world: Your actions influence the reactions of the people around you. Fight, steal, seduce, threaten, persuade, or bribe. It’s all up to you.
  • Historical accuracy: Meet real historical characters and experience the genuine look and feel of medieval Bohemia.

Depends doesn't it. If you're into FPS games like fortnite/COD then you'll be bored out your mind as this game is designed for people with attention spans.

If you are the sort of gamer that can sink 100s of hours into games like Zelda/ Skyrim then this will be right up your street.

I personally love the realism and love the amount of detail. This game is a labour of love like no other.

I personally couldn't get into it. The lead character was like an annoying tamagotchi. Ever 2 minutes and (I'm not joking) "I feel quite hungry" followed by stomach rumbles and the hunger icon was literally barely lit up.

I just couldn't be bothered to look after him in the end, constantly having to scoff cheese and bread and then look for more. Then if Henry gets tired the screen starts dimming and closing his eyes, even if you're in the middle of combat.

I think they went too far with the simulation. I just don't feel the need to eat, sleep and wash in a game, especially not as frequently as was needed in KCD.

Totally destroyed the fun for me.

Either you only played about and hour or you're completely over exaggerating. You can easily go a couple of in game days without eating if you fill up by eating from one of the numerous pots of food about and once you have the perk that allows you to stay awake longer energy is not a problem.

Also, any review would have told you about the simulation aspects of the game, if you were surprised about that it's your fault for not reading before you purchased, not the games.

I am fine with everything except the combat system. shooting arrow is like your character has severer parkinson. Good luck shooting a rabbit standing right in front of you. The combat system take cumbersome to the next level. abit similar to Chivary and For honor but 100x times worst. just slow and clunky, then the game is 99% peasant walking simulator. where one simple quest can have you walking beside a horse rider for 10 min+

I began my comment with "I personally".

Not sure why you can't deal with someone being critical about a game. You enjoy it, fair enough.

I have PS4, VR and 1000's of games, so I gave this game a try and it wasn't for me and didn't hold my attention, and I was offering my experience to another HUKD'er as they asked for "opinions". I gave mine. So rather than attacking me with your keyboard, give the HUKD'er who asked for opinions, yours, then they can make an informed choice.

Thanks

It didnt seem like he was being critical, he was pointing out that you are wrong, which you are. The hunger and sleep mechanics are nowhere near as cumbersome as you described, and you should be called out on it. People might read that and believe its true.

As many have suggested, you’re right in the sense that it is more of a simulator than ‘run and gun’. With that said it’s a fantastic game with plenty of detail both graphically and in storyline. If you have time to sink into a game (even if it’s every so often) it’s definitely worth a purchase IMO. You will need a fairly decent PC to pull this off too so no integrated graphics.

What is definitely wrong about the hunger mechanic is that Henry starts worrying about "needing a bite to eat" literally as soon as a tiny slither of yellow appears on the hunger circle. He could atleast wait until it's 50-70%.

It's a rubbish, buggy, cumbersome, glitchy, unoptimised mess of a game with little to no fun at all with boring quests and some that glitch out and completely break the game, and people who spent 40 quid on it clearly try and defend it to make themselves feel better about losing their money.

As other have also pointed out I was never attacking you, just calling out your false information.
It's a great game and a steal at this price.

He only complains about hunger when it's less than 50 percent. I actually never went hungry until I realised there was an achievement for starving yourself, seemed pretty difficult to actually starve.

If anything I kept getting the overstuffed debuff because every time you drink or take a potion, it also adds to your nourishment level.

The game was very buggy when it was released, but so are most Bethesda games, and this game was done by a tiny studio on a fraction of the budget. I would say they probably bit off more than they can chew.

Despite that though, I found myself really enjoying this. The combat can feel clunky at first, but once you get used to it, it's quite rewarding. There are a few dull quests, but I found myself enjoying the main story quite a lot.

Also, Brian Blessed is in the game, how cool is that?
Great game, and this is a fantastic deal, the game isn't for everybody though, if you are a very casual gamer, or you need big guns and huge explosions everywhere, this probably isn't for you.

On a side note, to make the game even better there are some fantastic mods on NexusMods to extend the game further.
