Speed 300Mb/S 190Mb/s
Controller: JMicron

No mention of drive speeds - similar price to other Sandforce based SATA3 drives. One point worth noting is that it is only 7mm high so is suitable for certain laptops that take slimmer drives.

Drive speeds are quoted in the OP.

They weren't before.

Same price but slower than other SATA3 SSDs.

sometime soon i'll be buying a laptop with probably an i3 or i5 and dedicated graphics (hopefully find one on here for around £300 :D) would this be a significant speed increase in terms of boot times and stuff? and is it compatible with all newish laptops?

I would await reviews on this one. Jmicrons sata 2 ssd controller is infamously poor!

Slow speeds to other SSDs.

You would expect significantly increased boot/shutdown and application start times, yes. Also good for disk intensive things like running Virtual Machines, where everything happens on disk pretty much.

Most of these are compatible with new laptops. Things to watch out for are: crap manufacturer, poor speed, wrong size (netbooks might need slim/narrow fit), matching bus architecture (SATA 2 or 3 on the drive or pc is compatible AFAIK but obviously you won't benefit from SATA 3 speeds on the drive if your machine only has SATA 2 on board).

there is better for cheaper so cold.

Got my 128GB Crucial M4 for £5 more...not voting.

Slow speeds, considerably faster than a standard hard drive but you can get faster ssd's for a similar price. Cold.

7mm drive so excellent for laptops that take them. Warm.

Have you an example? I'm looking to get one as a Christmas present. This Corsair one looks to be a lot faster and is only a fiver dearer. Better option?

It's a very good drive, if you want to buy the Corsair 120, try to find the manufacturing date from the retailer( preferably latter than week22 2011) and with the latest Firmware(1.3), you should be fine.
Prior to this manufacturing date these SSDs were recalled and I would not like you to go through the inconvenience of sending back and waiting for a replacement.

Thanks, I've had a look on the site and it doesn't give the date. I've emailed them to see if I can get more information. As it's a Christmas present I don't really want to go through all the hassle of returns.

You can get the Corsair Force 3 from Amazon for £129.99:

There's a post on Amazon too saying

Finally stock from Amazon.co.uk after 10th August are with the new … Finally stock from Amazon.co.uk after 10th August are with the new firmware. Earlier firmwares had issues

So it should be ok I guess.

Are these any good for use with a PS3?

They're about 30% faster - tomshardware.com/new…tml but it's probably not worth it.
