Just ordered mine and used the BACKFORGOOD code to get 5% of bringing it to £20.80.

Thanks OP!

Bargain! Ordered one with the BACKFORGOOD code and quidco

Silly me. Just ordered one and forgot to use the code.

OP can you add a bit telling people about the 5% code. I know its very little off and its on the voucher bit, but it will remind people - after all, we are all here to save money! =]

Went to order then noticed:

* Class: Class 4
* Read Speed: 8MB/s
* Write Speed: 6MB/s

But look up a 2gb class 2 Sandisk and you get

* Class: Class 2
* Read Speed: 15MB/s
* Write Speed: 9MB/s

eh?? At 9mb/sec that's class 6, verging on class 10!

ATM I know the "class 2" Sandisk I have is quick enough for 720p recording in my Desire, if I buy this it might end up being too slow, despite being marked as a class higher.

(can't edit for some reason)

Are the speeds they list burst speeds rather than continuous? And the class is listed too for clarification/checking device compatibility?

Does anyone know which is better? Was about to go for this deal until I read this comment!!

Thanks.

Just ordered one for my new HTC Desire HD

really want a 16GB microSD card but confused...which would be the best to get for HTC Desire froyo 2.2 and 720p recording?

Class 4 should be better than class 2 unless this one is S**t!

Get a class 6 or higher with a smartphone

Just thought to check my "class 2" Sandisk, 7mb/sec write and 18mb/sec read, good job I didn't buy this thinking it would have been at least as fast.

sandisk have good record with average transfer speed on class 2.
from their own rating it may occasionally drop to 2mb/s though which may be a problem for some.
kingston with class 4 should never drop below 4mb/s though could be alot slower average transfer..though until someone tests could also be alot faster

the 16gb sandisk only claims 9read/5write and is higher on average, so could the kingston

I looked this card up on google. A cnet reviewer here achieved the following results:

Average Read: 17.9 MB/s
Average Write: 9.3 MB/s

These were the average results, so the peak may well be higher and the Class 4 means it should not drop below 4 MB/s. The figures for the Sandisk on the mymemory site are maximum speeds. Looks as though the Sandisk does not come with an adapter whereas the Kingston does. So I'd say these clearly look a better buy.

Low price can be explained by the new Class 10 Kingston cards to which the cnet reviewer refers.

the sandisk figures onsite are not max - bluedan 2 above you posted his own results

Thanks. The website says max, but agreed that bluedan got higher results.

Bottom line is that, when measured by third parties, the Kingston appears to have about the same read speed (17.9MB/s on Kingston, 18MB/s on Sandisk) but has a write speed just over 30% faster (9.3MB/s on Kingston, 7MB/s on Sandisk). Hence I'd buy the Kingston, as I just have done.
