FANTASTIC DEAL.. heat and ordered

Buy this and you are paying an enormous premium for its small size.
Get a 2.5" portable hard disc and save £450.

The easiest way to lose £500?

what's the point.

seems like a lot of money for a usb stick you could buy a whole decent computer for that - or buy a server and access your files remotely

good point

Wow! Talk about a rip-off!
I have a nice but total idiot of a friend who would buy this as he is the type of loser who always has to have the latest thing whatever the cost! Companies love mugs like him. Nice if someone has the money to waste :?

plus usb stick aren't that reliable i have one 8gb, when i plug it in after the laptop's turned on it doesnt work, and when i plug it in before i switch it on it works. its useful only as bootable drive.

Something like these would surely be a better option.

Samsung S1 Mini 250 GB External hard drive ( 1.8" HD)

around £80 in most places.

I cant find my 16GB falsh drive and that cost nothing and i feel gutted, Imagine if you lost this i think you might commit hari kari

I bought one of those 250GB Verbatim portable drives for 20 odd quid from Tesco a few weeks ago and it is brilliant. Is £24 or £497 better? Duh. ("Du bist doof" as the Germans would say).

yay 256gb @ USB speeds

I thought it said 256MB and couldnt work out what the fuss was about!

Love this deal, I cancelled all of your above orders, bought the factory and now live on an island made of these sticks.

Buying this without USB3.0 technology is like buying a Ferrari with a 50cc moped engine... I can't see how a pen drive over a 2.5'' HDD warrants the premium anyway.

yay for the trollers...you guys rock

How long would it take to write 256GB at 12MB/sec?

You could hire someone to carry your 500Gb drive around for this.

How long would it take to write 256GB at 12MB/sec?

Assuming you have a constant 12MB/s write (which is very unlikely) the equation would be:

256*1024=262144MB
262144/60=4369 seconds
4369/60=72.82 hours

So approx 3 days of solid transfer if it managed it's manufacturer claimed speed and maintained it constantly. Manufacturers generally exaggerate these figures, sometimes by incredible amounts.

I know it is very rarely you would transfer that amount of data, the above was just because Keeneyes question interested me. The deal itself is good if you must have a pendrive but it would be stupid to spend so much money when flash memory keeps crashing in price and USB3.0 is just around the corner with read/write speeds up to 5.0Gbps which absolutely blows this out of the water.

too expenisve write speed is slow for a usb wait until usb 3.0 !!!!!!!!!!!!11
