40 secs to boot Linux Mint on a Thinkpad T530 which is really nice. Haven't noticed bad write speeds but then one does rather more reading than writing unless you are short on RAM - in which case buy more RAM rather than a SSD which may not enjoy a long life as your swap assistant.

I've not heard anything about the A400's but I'd never buy one just out of principle, unless it was for a relative and very cheap
