Cheapest almost 1TB SSD around using the ebay code.

Also toying with a few £ more & getting the Pariot Burst with a DRAM cache for only £71.88, might be worth a fiver more than the A400 - ebay.co.uk/itm…CfJ

Get the drive with DRAM cache. DRAMless drives slow down when you hit the drive with lots of i/o activity.

Agreed for an O/S drive. But as secondary game drive I'm led to believe it matters less

Yeah this 1 that @Brutes beat me to posting:

I've actually now bought 1 of those rather than the Kingston. this is still a great deal but £5 more for the dram cache seemed worth it

Those Patriot Burst SSD are not DRAM SSD. They use the same DRAM-Less Phison S11 controller inside Toshiba TR200, Kingston A400.

That's a marketing ploy. Most DRAM-Less SSD's have some sort of SLC caching tech. Phison S11 controller = DRAM-Less.

There's also the Integral 960GB SSD which works out at the same sort of price with the 20% code discount ebay.co.uk/itm…649

thanks for the info. I've now done a bit more googling on the topic & learnt a bit more about it.

Stumbled on this PDF that seems to frequently update which seems a good summary resource: ssd.borecraft.com/SSD…pdf

If you look at the Integral P Series 5 click under Product Specification, they use the same Phison S11 controller. At least Integral doesn't market the SSD with 'DRAM Cache'. If they did 95% of people on here would fall for that.

Yeah & that drive was marginally cheaper with the ebay code than the Patriot so maybe that would be the better choice then. Seems tehre is at lease a slight difference with this Kingston in that whilst it also uses the S11 it uses 2D/Planar TLC rather than 3D
