Guys, don’t be fooled, these are really slow drives with a USB 3.x port on them. It’s all about the memory chip inside. Manufacturers have been fooling people like this for a while now. Just because it says USB 3.x it does not mean it’s going to be blazing fast. Kingston seem to be trying their luck more than anyone at the moment.

Note that USB 3.2 Gen 1 is the same as USB 3.0 - explained better here...

It's very respectable though - this is the 128Gb version from the same listing I purchased in Mar2023 & just tested in Win7 64-bit & on a 2010 mobo (Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3)..

5GBps which is plenty for these drives.

All these cheap flash drives are usually slow and terrible anyway. May as well be usb 2 with the slow write speeds they deliver.

Whilst ok for backing up photos and files, these drives are pointless for large files like movies, they also get very hot. A SSD in a usb 3.2 enclosure it far superior in every respect.

Find me an SSD in a 3.2 enclosure for 2.99?

Hi ,the pictures are misleading the usb stick is a 128gb not 64gb
I would have bought it if it was 128 but 64 not worth it really can pick up these sort of usb stick for £2 each . (edited)

For only £2.99 this is pretty amazing value to get a 64gb usb drive, it’s the price of a happy meal, l know what l’d rather have.

How do these compare to the Kingston DataTraveler ones posted recently for £2.59?

Probably the same drive in a different casing

    So slow transfers (edited)

Heat added. Thank you. Ordered 5 because I always seem to be giving these out to friends and family and never receiving them back in working order. (edited)

Now I'm flummoxed. Ok the one hand I need to store some private photos and on the other I love me a Fredo. Decisions decisions.

I've bought two usb sticks on different occasions from ebay; one was a Kingston in what looked like retail packaging. Both of them were fakes. Never had this problem buying them from amazon. (I always test a new purchase using h2testw.) (edited)

Reads are OK on the drive it's the writes that are slow, for a live distro it should be OK

These are currently saying "dispatched within 1 to 3 weeks", but if you look in the "Other sellers" section, you can get them from ebuyer for the same price (still through Amazon) but arriving within a few days.

As others have said there are others of similar capacity / price around now though anyway. They aren't fast, but handy for giving photos to family etc.

Ordered one to use for backing up docs etc. Not sure why the Amazon driver threw the package over the side gate when it would have gone through the letter box
