Great deal if you are looking to spruce up an old desktop on the cheap. Bit too small for a laptop (as you're only drive) but even as a basic model will still be better than a HDD.

Obviously still not as cheap as when they were under £30 but I haven't seen that for 18months or more.
Apologies if this is a daft question, but how do I check my existing HDD size (inch, not space)?

If its a desktop, its more than likely going to be 3.5" but that's not a problem because you can just get an additional bracket which are pretty cheap. Some of these brackets also allow 2 x 2.5" SSD drives to fit into where normally only one mechanical 3.5" Hard-drive would go.

Actually a 2.5inch disk is 4" long by 3" wide .. a 3.5 inch disk is 4" wide x 6 " long. weird eh?
they're coming back down slowly aren't they. RIP the time when you could get one from mymemory for £20 delivered.

Don't even need a bracket, really. They're really light and have no moving parts so don't have to be carefully mounted. I've stuck them to the bottoms of cases or on top of an existing disk with sellotape.
thought it’s a door mat lol

I’d disagree, perfect size for a laptop for most home users, better off storing photos online rather than clog up a laptop with them. Google drive is particularly good for this. All drives fail eventually, so don’t take the risk of you have files you want to keep forever.
nice

As long as it is SATA connector, this would work. It would have to be very old to be the alternative IDE interface.
Just be aware, some netbooks don't have drive trap doors and are a pain to access the drive (Google your netbook model on YouTube to check).
I have one of these for the kids pc and it has made a massive difference. Great deal and great price.
Pretty tempting.. already got 2 installed though. Would do nice to fill with games though(cheeky)

Problem is people rely on free storage and then suddenly it's not free - or if you 'loose' you google account you loose everything. It's why Amazon offer photo storage as part of prime as for most people once it's all uploaded there's no going back.

Also depends on how data (copies) paranoid you are.

Great price and reliable - I use mine in a caddy to pop in my bag and store stuff on It when travelling. Or sticking it into smart TVs in hotels to watch what I want.

Just happened to me had 100gb google drive storage which I'd had for years then the other day I get a email telling me my storage was expiring and that I was 90% over and to move my stuff. The problem is is that I can't find what's using all the space as my pictures and documents are only using 1gb yet 99gb is somewhere, I've looked into my account and there's no sign of the data. I know my phone backs up to the cloud but no sign of where the data is stored, its that bad my phone can't sync WhatsApp or my apps I also can't receive emails. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them so I can free my Google storage.

2.5 and 3.5 inch on hdd refers to the platter size not the size of the entire device.

Underneath the pie-chart there's "view details", that will tell you were your space is being used up.

Nice to see the prices starting to fall bit!

Depending on how much storage you need, it be with considering posting for extra storage google.com/dri…ng/

100Gb is pretty cheap.

However, I understand your main issue may be to actually find out what is taking up your storage in the first place!

I used AOMEI Backupper when upgraded from HDD to SSD. Here is a pretty straightforward guide:
