This has dropped a few pounds from last month.

I know, I know...Kingston baited and switched their fast flash for cheapo stuff and didn't tell anyone.

However, it's almost as cheap as it's ever been, and if you're just needing a cheap 120GB SSD then this may suit.

The last post of this (which went super cold) was over a month ago, so I thought I'd take the hit and let folk know.

You can buy the Transcend one for £44.50 its what it should be its also a 128gb drive so 8gb bigger faster you would need to be brain dead to buy the kingston.

Depends on what you're looking for. The 128GB, 256GB etc drives have no reserved flash for error recovery. Depends if you prefer an extra few GB for storage, or a more reliable drive.

The Transcend has a Three-year limited warranty same as the kingston so how can that be more reliable especially when the kingston drive has had the insides swapped out for cheaper inferior parts, if i was in the market for a cheap 120gb+ drive i would choose the Transend. My first SSD when they were very expensive was a Sandisk extreme which i still have i also have 2 of the slower Sandisks my main rig has a 480gb Crucial.

I used to ok with Kingston until they did that. Now I kinda dislike any Kingston stuff guess that's what their price be for doing bait and switch. I would pay a little extra to get anything else rather then helping them shift these drives, at lease not until these drop below 30. Sorry Kingston, you deserve it.

I think what he means is that the 128, 240, etc. drives are over-provisioned with (more) spare flash - that may come in handy as writes accumulate or cells start to fail...

I would still get the Transcend myself though, seems to have a good reputation - you'd have to do serious writing to need it.

I stay away from anything Kingston now, after the bait and switch. Not trustworthy, would rather give a little more and spend it on a deserving company.
