Because they will last longer than you most likely
Plus their technology doesn't really change until things like washing machine etc.

Why is the red colour £319.99 and the others are up to £429? I don't mind the colour but wondered if there was any technical difference?

They are different models. All the mixers (including anothe one in red) cost £429 and the model number for them begins with 5KSM150...

The one on sale, model number differs, 5KSM156...

I am not sure of the technical differences but I am sure, there will be! It is also common for the model number 5KSM156 to be on sale regularly.

6 = code for Red color?

I have the most basic kitchen aid (not the artisan) and I love it. Realllly love it.
I'm pleased to see that they have brought out a splatter guard as it is annoying having to put a clean tea towel ontop of the bowl when mixing icing etc so it doesn't go everywhere.
My best tip would be to go to amazon and buy a spare bowl and a spare beater, usually cake recipes involve a cake batter and an icing or filling of some sort so it saves time and effort washing up in between. The glass bowl is nice but heavy, and the metal bowl is handy as it can go in the fridge to get nice and cold before making shortbread etc.

I have an artisan they are brilliant. Wouldn't be with out mine. Make cakes, bread, and everything in between and never had a problem with it. Really good price.

Are there any cheaper ones similar to this? Im not bothered about the brand and I would prefer white if possible. It dosen't have to be all singing/dancing.

I have the Kenwood KM330 chef classic, which I bought in the new year sale at Sainsburys for £119.99, via a thread on HUKD. I think it can be picked up for around the £140 mark now at many places, which is still a great price for the mixer and all the various things that come with it. I would really recommend it, it's a fantastic mixer. I had the kitchenaid/kenwood debate for ages before deciding to go with a kenwood and it's coped with anything I've thrown at it, I use it several times a week for bread making and baking and it's been brilliant. It's all white in colour, with a white bowl - which I actually prefer to a block colour, as it will always match my kitchen, no matter what colour it is! Hope that helps?

However, this is a great price for a kitchenaid OP, very rare to see these on offer and even better with the free glass bowl. Heat added xxx

That's a decent price for the Prospero - I've had a look at that model in store before and from memory, its a nice machine - usual kenwood quality, but I do remember that it's quite a bit smaller than the standard models. I think that's the point, that it's a more compact version. Good luck with your search - I'll post heat on your deal too xxx

I was looking for a stand mixer a couple of months ago and was desperate for the kitcen aid.
When shopping around and reading as many reviews and tips as possible I ended up with a kenwood kmix.

Absolutely delighted with it it came with an extra free beater and also 5 year warranty and has a more powerful motor than the kitchenaid.

I'm glad I did research as I was just going to buy the kitchenaid regardless.

Good price though if you are on the lookout for one

Love my kitchenaid! Bought it last year when they had the same glass bowl offer on.. Have used it regularly since - much to the pleasure of my family and friends but not my waistline!

Not a fan of this colour - I have it in latte - but great price so have some heat!

Very well built but still a massive mark up on cost to produce. If Apple made a mixer then this would be it.

Love that mixer ! Would be better if it was pink though

My girlfriend bought one of these Kenwood KMIX from amazon last week for £220, she had been on the verge of buying for months so i convinced her to get it. She pleased and thats my ps4 in the bag

I love my kitchenAid stand mixer which I got for £250 from currys, it was a discountinued model. These things will last longer than any other appliance. I also have a kitchenAid food processor which does everything (sing & dance too). It's a quality item.
I like the colour, can't justify buying another just for the colour but for that price you are getting a bargain.
Happy shopping folks!

I've got an artisan in candy apple red and it's just brilliant. Mine came with 2 bowls, glass and stainless and has a plastic splash guard too. It's used weekly if not more and has been since I got it 3 years ago.
Great price and highly recommended.

bought one of these a few months ago on another HUKD offer. I chose Candy Apple Red but it wasn't the only colour in the offer. It is a great machine. At the time it came with a free pasta maker but I would have rather had the glass bowl.

Highly recommended especially with the John Lewis guarantee.

One very cheap alternative I like to use is my right arm, with a liberal application of elbow grease. It's unlikely to fail mechanically, and enough use will raise your metabolism for the imminent scoffing of baked goods.

Alternatively you can use the left arm and it feels like someone else is baking for you

If you enjoyed purchasing this mixer, then you may be interested in buying my advanced wooden spoon. It comes with a 1 day warranty, has a little bow on it made from elastic bands and gas a few stains on it but it looks great.

Only £600.

We have this exact model - the Candy Red colour that is, it says 5KSM150 on the bottom and looking on the Kitchen Aid website they don't show one ending in 156. I'd suggest this is a JL typo - price lower because it isn't a popular colour now. These are fab machines - will last a lifetime. It was this or the Kenwood!

Oh I love the bake off effect!
Huge increase in sales of food mixers, cake tins, glace cherries and burn cream this week
Edited by: "Jammygal" 13th Aug 2014

They had a Kitchen Aid in the Milton Keynes John Lewis for £289.99 on the weekend (with the free glass bowl + 5 year guarantee) - they had a row of five or six at the OP price and then one on the end was at the lower price...possibly old stock?

It may be worth checking in stores before buying online!

I saw this deal and the cynic in me thinks may be too good to be true although this is John Lewis so unlikely to be anything significantly dodgy. So I emailed John Lewis customer service and this is their response which will end all speculations about the pricing.

"'I've checked the details of the mixer you are looking for and basically this can be a price match against a competitor or a new colour coming out to replace it , but if this is the colour you are looking for it is just a really good deal . These are all from the same supplier and of the same quality so if you want to go ahead just sign on to Johnlewis.com and place your order ."

Bum cream???
oO

Great price now!

Just bought one after years of wanting it in cream but I don't care now. Cheapest ever price!! I'm over the moon!!!

Showing as £429 for me now...

yep deal over !

If you are buying a kitchen aid mixer from the UK make sure you pay extra and buy the 500 watt 6.9 litre model.

You will have no problems with large amounts of cookie/bread dough at all. You can tell the difference as the level raises and lowers the bowl as the head doesn't move like the cheaper model.

All catering shops carry the model as it is used in commercial kitchens.
