Browsing Knight and Lee Southsea (John Lewis group) they had the E27 starter kit (3 colour bulbs and 1 old style hub) for £79.95

They also had the B22 starter kit but at £109.95

Worth checking other John Lewis stores if you're not local.

No, 3 bulbs and a hub.

Excellent price. Have some heat!

Another comment failing to appreciate just what kind of light bulbs......

£80 for automated IoT light bulbs with included cloud hosted remote control services and integration into almost all other home automation services. You know, if you're into that kind of thing.....

Beware, mind, the Hub 1.0 has no HomeKit capability, meaning no Siri control.

What's this old style hub? I guess they aren't the richer colours bulbs but are they the generation before that or even older?

The old style hub has no HomeKit functionality, which is only important if you want Siri to control your lights too.

You need the square hub 2 for amazon echo too and probably for Google home

I have the mk1 hub and it works with the amazon echo.

Nope, you don't. Just for homekit.

Heat ! I have the 2nd hub working with homekit but i have the bug now and want more of my house to automate. The amazon echo works with more and far cheaper things after browsing for days I'm considering an echo purchase as it seems more versatile

I'm not sure I get this. Is it literally £80.00 for the ability to control lights without getting up?

No it's also the ability to dim lights, change colours or colour temperatures.

A blue light is better for concentrating, a yellow light for relaxing. When I arrive home I have certain lights turn on automatically and when I leave the house all the lights switch off.

With a free app you can even have the lights change colour whilst watching a film which completely immerses you into the film.

It's an expensive outlay but certainly one that I was happy to pay, it has transformed the house.

Not only that i added a motion sensor in my 3 year olds
room which during the day is set for normal light bed time it is set as a night light. It's one of those things that seems silly until you have it and use it now it's like i have just realised i don't have to slice bread anymore !
