Not sure why cold. This is an excellent Ereader and is very similar to the Kindle paperwhite which is double the price.

Not sure, now there are some upvotes
I bought this last week at £69.99 from argos and I thought that was a good deal! This is brilliant. Do you know if argos will refund me the difference like Amazon does?
Great deal! My Kobo Touch is still going strong but i'm tempted to upgrade.

BTW the link doesn't seem to work.

Good deal. I have a Kobo (the H20) which replaced my Kindle. Much better eReader with the added bonus that you can buy books from ANYWHERE but Amazon (whereas Kindle is the exact reverse of that).
Does it handle PDFs well? Could you read a PDF book, or do you have the problem of zooming in, like on a Kindle?
Love my kobo h20, it's been drenched so many times last few weeks walking home from the station. Was great on holiday too as could sit in the pool with it whilst the kids where playing and not worry about it getting wet.

Funny how I buy ebooks from everywhere and Amazon even converts them for me if they don't come in kindle format . :-)

The current Kindle Paperwhite has a much higher resolution screen. Not sure if that's worth the price difference, but it does make it superior. Just thought I'd mention it.
I feel bad not supporting the 'underdog' (I usually do!) but I got my wife a kindle for Xmas solely due to the credits I had accrued by being a Prime Member and choosing no rush delivery (£3 cedits and you wouldn't believe how many seperate very small orders I made lol) which basically meant I could load almost 50 books (legally) on it for 'nowt.. They are a crafty company. But heat added for this as it's a great deal.
If you have an E-reader and don't have calibre you're doing it wrong
Good deal imo
I have a H20 and a first gen paperwhite which hasn't been used for reading since i got the H20. I still buy books from amazon as the kobo store is pants tbh but i use calibre to convert them to kepub for reading on the H20.
Would have bought this if I didn't have a Nook.

Not sure of the answer to that, but you could always buy it again and return it with your original receipt?

You have to send PDF file to your kindle email address with a title CONVERT, it will be then converted to kindle book format.

Allows you to borrow up to 3 books from your sofa and it puts itself back when it expires - well worth a look
We are a Kobo family with 2 Kobo Touch and one Kobo Aura HD in the family and all in regular use for years with not a single problem with any of them. At this price you'll be doing a great service supporting the underdog. I think I paid for £127 my for my Aura HD in 2013. Never had a problem with it. Can read PDFs nicely. Can borrow ebooks from our local library 24/7, something we couldn't do if we had a Kindle as the lending service does not support Kindle.

yeah this models a few years old its not comparable to the current paperwhite but i guess if you want to walk around like with an amazon advertising board that's cool. Value and spec wise the glo hd trounces the best amazon has to offer currently by a long way.

I have the H20 too and it is fantastic
I like the page turn buttons on my Nook and that I can view books as I've ordered them in folders not all bundled jumbled together. It's a shame Nook went more like Kindle that keeping itself different.

v good software
IIRC this model and the later more expensive H2O only have 256mb for system OS RAM. Which is OK as the OS for this is basically launching it's reader and a few gardenwalled apps. I recently bought a ereader from china for just over £60 delivered. It is by the main ereader maker which is rebadged by many western ereader makers. Has a just few more pixels than this, 1GHz dual core CPU, 4GB RAM with 512MB sys OS RAM which with a firmware I flashed has been extended to 1GB, micro SD etc etc. The fimrware also brought out the full Anroid OS. Using it with Nova launcher as an ereader Android tablet. With all the top ereader apps (AIreader, FBreader, Moon, Cool etc etc) + the top PDF readers from the store not to mention other apps for DOCs, browsers, etc. Other new ones coimng out in 2016 in new sizes & specs. Research ereaders gadget news if into ereading, plenty of sites and news blogs. New sub hundred pound 7 & 8 inch ereaders coming out this year too.
Do I need to use the Kobo store to get books or can I use my Amazon and DRM free ones as well?

hi
Can you give me details name and where you bought it from.
thanks

To avoid possible confusion, the kobo aura is a regular sized 6" screen smaller brother to the 6.8" screen Kobo aura HD. The kobo aura HD was itself superseded by the kobo aura h2o. I own a kobo aura HD which i think is great. However, it is worth noting that ebooks not purchased from kobo, sometimes display with a large bottom margin, negating the benefit of the slightly larger screen. All of which makes this deal even more of a bargain.

Hi I echo the same. Please can you let us know the brand and place? Thanks

hi Can you give me details name and where you bought it from.thanks

It's by boyue which is rebadged by many other Asian & western ereader makers. I bought it on Aliexpress on 11.11 SALE for about £61 delivered, took five weeks to arrive. The model is Boyue T62D. D is the latest but e is in pipeline too though seems to be not much better and has a few problems. You can also buy on dhgate. Check videos of it on YouTube. Comes pretty much as a decent android tablet, however if a little techie, flash the better Rom by FOV which is on mobileread forum. Make sure you are not getting the older t62 cheaper models but it's a D. Better if you can wait a few months for other releases. Icarus is doing an 8 inch reader but didn't buy when it was even cheaper on presale, prefer smaller ones. It's also rebadged boyue. Check mobile read forms and below blog for future news, and few YouTubers specialising in readers:

Thank you for your ever so insightful link!

As it happens, I'm more than capable of researching the specs for a device.

I am aware that the Kobo Aura is supposed to have a backlit screen. However, in my experience, companies don't always sell the same as a spec sheet reads. I have bought items in the past where I expect it to have a certain spec, only to find out that it is not as expected.

As a result, I asked if anyone was able to CONFIRM if this device has a backlight, rather than spending 30 minutes travelling to my local Argos, only to find out that this was not the case!

Thanks Thankyou.

Argos deal is dead

Just bought one at Argos. Couldn't find it by searching their site, but found it on the mobile site searching thru bing. It said currently out of stock everywhere, but I went into argos and put the stock number in - 339/4995 - and got the last one. So their might be a few left about if you're a shop and want to have a look. It is backlit, seems better than the Nook ST I'm coming from, but also takes a bit of getting used to compared to that.
