Just purchased the Kobo Libra 2 from BT Shop for £119, it has free UK shipping (I had to pay £3.49 for delivery to Northern Ireland, even though we're in the UK... but it's still a great offer anyhow). It costs £169.99 almost everywhere else (Amazon, Currys, Argos etc...), so a very nice saving of £50!

Been researching e-readers for a while now and have decided that I think the Kobo is a better buy pound for pound than the rest. After narrowing it down (there are lots of brands and models to choose from), the leading contender was probably the Kindle Paperwhite. Still, for several reasons, such as you can read almost any format on the Kobo, can read library books for free without the extra faffing on the Kindle, page turn buttons on the side are included, better grip on the side for holding, probably one of the best quality screens on an e-reader currently, slightly larger screen without being an excessive size or weight, amongst many other reasons and to top it off, this is the cheapest price I've seen it anywhere in quite some time.

There are a lot of people arguing online that the white bezel looks better than the black bezel, it doesn't reflect light and doesn't show fingerprints etc..., which is a definite benefit over the black. I'm more used to having a black bezel on my devices but at this price, I'm happy to give the white bezel a try for £50 less - either way, I'm not too concerned, as I can always just add a nice case of my choosing for a tenner at a later date, if it does bother me at all and that will resolve it.

I understand not everyone will be looking for an e-reader but for those who are, this currently looks like the best deal out there, on arguably one of the best e-readers currently on the market.

I currently have a Kindle but I'm considering a kobo, where do you purchase books from so I can see if some of the books I like are there please

With Overdrive, you can loan most new and major titles from your local library for free for a few weeks. Pocket is more newspaper / web browser articles where you browse that website with the topics that interest you and have them ready to read on your Kobo when convenient.

I look at Kobo = Android, and Kindle = Apple... Kindle gives you convenience, whereas Kobo gives you flexibility and more features. The hardware are both equivalent.. (edited)

I've got both the Forma and Sage. Kobo are far more flexible and value for money than Amazon's offerings.

*Flexible with features, not build quality :)...Overdrive and Pocket...

Build quality and Carta screen are equivalent to Kindle, only with more features. (edited)

Agreed. I have the Forma too and had the Glo before it. I would need a good reason to return to a Kindle after owning Kobo products.

You've made my day. I've been eyeing out for a promotion on this particular reader since I've missed the last offer on here. Also, had such a bad day to finish this off with a pressie for myself. (edited)

Getting books from a local library using Libby or Overdrive is a game changer, makes Kobo a far more attractive choice over Kindle.

What a bargain! Well spotted thank you.
This is far and away the best reader on the market and great value at the normal price of £160 or so.
Go to Mobileread to find out how to customise it exactly to your requirements, or just enjoy it.
    Beats Kindles hands down.

Great offer. Thank you. Was £139.00 with Argos matched by Amazon for a day or two some weeks ago.

I have the same one but in black.

Love having Pocket and Libby on the device. You can add more features and supports other Ebook formats natively that a Kindle would be fussy with. In terms of buying books, Kindle does have more paid book choice but Kobo are not far off and get all the major releases.

This is a great price. I've been using an iPad for reading but it hurts my eyes so I'm going to try one of these. (edited)

Heat for this. Not that well known but I have an onyx boox which is android based. Brilliant for have reading apps too and easy to add boks that you find yourself without any pain of converting etc.
Great to use the Google play book app and then sync across devices too.

I would like one of those, with the expectation I could also use the Kindle android app to access my large Kindle library. But the price puts me off.
Considering the Kobo...but how much hassle would it be converting my Kindle library? I know Calibre can convert the format, but what hassle is there in removing the DRM protectio?

What's the actual process for getting books on here please? Kindle, go on the Amazon site (not the app anymore as you can view but can't buy from there), click buy and it appears on the Kindle. That's about as convenient and easy you can get. Is it similar on Kobo?

For purchased books it's pretty much the same thing, only you use Kobo store rather than Amazon store and they price match etc... but it's getting books for free such as from your local library, or downloading them online from multiple sources and subsequently supporting multiple additional formats that the kindle doesn't, is where the Kobo seems to gain some traction.

Send to kindle feature is a deal breaker for me , download a book on my iPhone and send it once and it syncs across all devices and apps, I have not found way to do that with Kobo, it just appears in the app, not the e-reader, if anybody knows a way would love to hear as kids use kobo’s

Does this support article help? Looks like you 'pull' ebooks via Sync button on your kobo

Just an update that I received mine today (technically yesterday). I'm pleased with it. It seems like a great little device. Looks nice, feels nice, nicely sized/weighted and I've already filled it with 70 epub books downloaded from the internet. So far so good... now to go do some reading :-)

Any suggestions for a case? I'd prefer a felt wallet style rather than the flip style but don't fancy paying 20% of the purchase price for one!

Didn't bother with one myself. I like it the way it is... it's grippy, lightweight & the white one doesn't hold fingerprints either, so not really any need for a case really.
