You can use eCalibre to convert your kindle books to an epub file to put on these. Lovely little device. Fits in your back pocket

Nice

been able to get these at this price for awhile, just use very and sign up accounts with family / friends for the £30 off first order codes

tho as its only said, these are a nice ereader

Had a look at one in asda earlier this week, but its a bit small. I think I need the extra 20% of screen on a 6".

Its been at this price since October i wouldn't worry about it selling out.

i'd rather get nook for £40 bigger screen and backlight as well

"THIS WILL NOT LAST LONG" - is it very poorly put together?

better off with the 6" screen version, be it kindle, kobo or nook

Expired... just thought with Christmas it might be of use to some people

The mini is tiny; it went to that price at ASDA and WH Smith some months back, so its a standard price now I suspect.

Nice one, thanks

It was lower earlier in the year- Still a good deal, but the Nook won out for me because of the Kindle functionality after rooting.

Hot price, crap reader. Go for Nook with Glowlight - it's only £10 more.
No reason to get it unless Nook is too big for your taste.

Can you just use Calibre program for books? Or does the rooting add something else?? Would be good to know. Thanks

I actually bought it for £24.99. WHSmith gives you a £5 voucher to spend on anything over £20, but you can use it only from the next day. You can buy a paper for 40p, get the voucher and come back next day to buy the Kobo mini cheaper.

I already have the larger Kindle and Kobo and bought one of theses several months ago as it fits so easily in my inside jacket pocket. Great little reader and I use it a lot as its with me whenever I am out.

I bought both me and my son (15) one of these in May at £29.99 and they have been fantastic. It has been one of the best investments. He reads now more than he ever did and I love being able to shove this wee beauty into my handbag for a quick read any time I want. You can read, play the pre-installed games and even browse the internet. Great bargain!

Yes, you can use Calibre for books without rooting.
Rooting will allow you to install and run android apps. You can install Kindle app and Gmail, for instance. My opinion is this is a waste of time, as you can convert Kindle books to epub with Calibre and you usually have your phone around for anything else.

Thank you so much for the info, much appreciated!

I was about to say the same thing! Calibre works fine, and the reader is a nice size. Like I said earlier, the Kindle functionality just beats this into second place, but still a fine purchase

It's been cheaper.

Great device, bought one for my SiL last time it went to this price, but prefer the Kobo Touch or a Kindle for the screen size and if serious (alot) reader i would look to one of those instead.

Thanks

Nice little thing, been looking at these for a while - although maybe I'll flamedeer my way to a kindle instead he he. At this price seems like a gift, heat added

I have a Kindle Paperwhite but saw this in WH Smiths in Halifax three weeks ago for £29.99, I bought one to supplement, not replace, my Paperwhite, it is very light, easily slips in a pocket and I carry it every day to read on the bus / train etc. At home I'll use the Paperwhite, also for reading in bed and would take the Paperwhite on holidays, but this is great for every day use. Other folk have mentioned Calibre to convert books and it's extremely easy to use, highly recommended. The Kobo has frozen once or twice when I've been using WiFi to access the Kobo store but it easily resets with the help of a paper clip and it is a little slower to fire up than the Kindle....but hey...for £30 what do you want One thing, not easy to find a decent case to fit but there are some out there (plenty if you like the flip over style, I prefer a slip case and haven't been able to find one yet...I bought this one from Amazon and it's excellent:

Finally, my local Co-Op in Hebden Bridge is also selling them at £29.99
