Found 15th Nov 2009
Just spotted these in my local store (North Harbour). Picked one up... might pop back tomorrow for a couple more if there's any left. They had a load of unopened boxes though, so should be alright :o)

Edit: Just taken a look at the pack I bought and they're DVD-R, but DVD+R were definitely on the shelves at the same price!

Most PC recorders will use either so therefore no difference but if you have a stand alone recorder it will probably use one or the other, when complete they will both play in any player...
Good price by the way

Cheapest price I think. Good find, thanks!

Both were down from near £18!!

Anyone know what dye these discs are?

Good offer, ive used a few packs of these before and had ZERO coasters with them.

bought some of these yesterday, i recommend that you see what product bin they are in as mine (tesco brislington) were in with cd-r's (which were a pound cheaper) took it to the desk said i was charged incorrectly and got £4 back

lol

Can somebody look at the packaging and say where they are made. please.

As far as I know, these are only 8x speed (not 16x speed) and only have a 2 year guarantee. Verbatim are definitely better.

Says 16 speed printed on the disk

Made in China

HOT!!! picked one up from Tesco metro in derby city centre. still had at least 2 left on the shelf, so hurry up!!!

DVD+R dye on mine is AML-003-00 max supported write speed is indicated to be 16x. Any info on this dye I can find doesn't seem that positive, but if they work they work.

It's the dye used in Amazon Basics DVD+R's so you can tell they're cheap!

I thought Wii backups could be done onto a hard disk and loaded from the hard disk?!

they are 16x and are as good as anything i've used before.
If you're burning on your pc just right click My computer>Hardware>Device Manager>DVD/CD drives>It'll tell you if its + or -.

Nearly all drives in PC's can write to both + and -

Do you prefer + or - for burning on the pc ?

I prefer minus primarily because my first DVD writer (which cost me £200 :() could only handle minus. There was lots of discussion on which was best years ago, and this primarily centred around what other players, like dvd players, could play them. General thinking at the time was minus was more compatible.

I don't think there's much difference nowadays, and I grabbed a pack of the Kodak +'s to add to my - collection :).

CD r's very cheap too, got a pack for about £4 yesterday

Thanks...I'll be stearing clear then. About the price I'd expect...and probably a decent deal if you want cheap discs.

I bought some of the DVD+Rs from Tesco at Osterley. As mentioned before, the dye is AML-003-00, which I'd never hard of before. I've burned one disk and scanned it. They aren't a patch on Taiyo Yudens, but are far from the worst I've seen. I'd expected them to be Ritek disks, but they seem to perform much better than them. For 9p per disk they seem a bit of a bargain. Just don't trust anything important to them long term as there is little information about the stability of this dye.

DVD+R is the technically superior format. They're essentially DVD 2.0 and almost all players can handle them.

I went to Tesco at the weekend to get some of these and they were priced up at £17.90 on the shelf so I left them and was a bit cheesed off thinking it was a deal I had missed. Then I saw another post saying that they had been priced up wrong in some stores so I went in again today and sure enough they scanned at £4.48. The packs of 50 CD-R's scanned at £3.78. Hot Hot Hot
