What's unhealthy about basmati?

I usually buy Kohinoor brand rice when it is on offer because is always top quality. I have bought lesser brands but they can go a bit is mushy compared with a quality brand. I bought the Platinum pack at Tesco a few weeks ago but it cost me £6.00 which I thought was a good price at the time.

Brown rice is "healthier". But if you want a really healthy grain, use Quinoa instead of rice.

Yeah, no doubt. But what's unhealthy about eating white rice exactly?

No fibre to speak of, high GI. It's not much of a food stuff - great for bulk though...

That doesn't make it unhealthy. It means it's high carbohydrate, which isn't necessarily bad. Billions of Chinese people seemed ok on it before the western dietary influence.

Btw, just looked at a site that showed there's more fibre in white basmati, than Brown.
