Interesting, it doesn't seem to be account specific. Did you register/login to see if the price changes?

It could be as I have not selected a region (first 1 is free) and this is to encourage an upgrade. Strange they are not offering the discount as a default to everyone

I am registered and logged in. Very strange. Might be user specific
No discount for me either. App looks nice. Tried planning a walking route and it doesn't seem to know of the footpath that passes my house though.
great app.... think I got the trick off here a few months back..... leave it ten days or so and they'll think you're not interested so will apply the discount. worth persevering, or being patient to save a tenner

I think that is what happened to me too. I have uninstalled and installed few times in the last week, trying vpn option etc.
You don't even need to pay a penny for this app (if you don't want to).
If you just sign up, any route can be saved for offline use.
If you want a region, just use a spare email address and gift it to yourself. Repeat to fade.

If I do use Komoot to plan a route, I sign in on a PC, plan the route and save the GPS file.
Then upload it to Garmin (or whatever your preferred company is), add turn point info and save it.
I don't think you really need to have any unlocked regions.

How do you gift a region to yourself? I have my home region but want to have Yorkshire too.

Create a new account with different email address and then you should have an option to gift a region to someone else (unless they've recently changed the rules).
The "someone else" is your real account.
When you get the notification email at your real account, I think you just click the link provided or copy a code and paste it at your real account to unlock a region (I've forgotten which).
You should be able to keep creating accounts and gifting regions to your real account.

The only benefit of doing the above, is if you use the mobile app.
But personally I don't use the mobile app. It's sometimes difficult to plan an intricate route and using a phone when navigating, just drains your battery, due to GPS and high screen brightness.

** EDIT **
Just to update the above.
It seems that you can only receive 1 free region per account.
So the only way to get multiple free regions, what be to have 3 accounts.
Account 3 gifts account 2 and account 2 gifts account 1.
So you'd end up with accounts 1 and 2 having a free region each.

But I found any route that crosses regions can be saved offline if needed.

A free region code, if anyone needs it:
