So, at least 2.78p per copy and then throw the printer away unless you can refil toners cheaply.

Unless toners can be refilled (as many black and white laser printers can), it will be expensive to use.

Avoid.
We use Konica Minoltas (including one of these) at work, and they are the most unreliable laser printers we've ever owned.

I 2nd that! I repair copiers/printers for a living and KM and Samsung are garbage..HP, Sharp and Ricoh much better.

I would also stay away from Xerox and there colour cube wax technology, terrible idea.

yep fraid there very costly and unreliable soon one day we will all have thermal printers not these costly things..

Totally agreed.
I had one, within the first week I had to call konica out, the yellow toner was leaking - they replaced it free, but within 6 months the new one was also leaking (leaving lines in the prints) so I called them out again - another was fitted.
Next started the random 'printer' crashing, wouldn't print unless you switched off/on, eventually that wasn't enough - paper jamming constantly forcing you to open it up every time you print (even though there was no jam) - then eventually it just died - no readout on the lcd.
I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

We also use Konica Magicolour printers at work (I think someone must have bought them in as a job lot) and they are an absolute nightmare. They are the slowest laser printers I've ever used and, here's the best bit - the printer might only cost 60 odd quid, but you'll pay around £200 to replace the toners. You'd be as well throwing the printer away when you need toner and just buying another.

Agreed too, bought a Konica Magicolor about 3 years ago, did nice prints when it worked, but the thing was a nightmare, paper feed hardly worked AND paper jams were incredibly high, kept having to manually feed the thing a page at a time, printing a 20 page document took half an hour. Their support line was good, but no fix for the paper feed issue. Also when the toner ran out, cost was so high (£60+ per toner) I just ebayed the thing. HP's at work seem much more reliable.

Must admit I havn't read comments above BUT I certainly would advise that any student does NOT buy this. The printer could be free (and it may well be sold below cost for this reason) but I had a Minolta and wow does it fly through the toners which were £50-£70 for originals (daft to use copies when after quality) and it needed four. There is then the waste toner bottle, drum e.t.c. They all run out ages before the alleged useage figures.

p.s. I havn't voted because my reasons DON'T make this a bad deal on price. The price may well be great and therefore a HOT deal BUT I don't vote if I think there is a neg (NOT a reason to vote cold on price) about the item.

This, whilst more expensive, is a far better deal:

Always check out the cost of consumables when looking at laser printers

I wont vote cold (even though it is), as the last Mod I voted cold gave me a warning .... abuse of "power" anyone ?

you eloquently explained why this printer is a complete waste of money- therefore it is nothing but a cold deal no matter how messed up the voting philosophy is around here. Go back and vote it cold and stop being schizo about the whole thing

Conversely, had my 2300DL at home for 5 years + now, and never had a problem with it at all.

Paul

Well I think this is a really good deal.

Everyone seems to slagging Konica-Minolta off right left and centre, but I have been using a 2400W for over a year now and never had any problems at all. I bought mine on the recommendation of a friend, who has been using them for about 4 years now and also finds them very good. Maybe we're just lucky, but I would buy one again and at this price doesn't seem like too much to speculate. Presumably it comes with a warranty of at least 12 months anyway.

Just noticed it's actually a 3 year warranty! very tempted to buy this, as the toner cartridges on my existing printer are getting a bit low and this deal is cheaper than a couple of cartridges for my current (ageing) printer. How can this be anything other than mega-hot!

what do you think a cheap color laser with duplexing:whistling:

I thought it was a good deal until reading about poor reliability and high cartridge prices.
You hardly ever read such unanimous criticism of product reliability as seen on the first page. It must be really bad.

If these things worked and were easy to refill, it might just be a good deal.

Is the hot /cold button working in reverse then, or is everyone taking the p1ss?

They just probably haven't owned one.
I'm a 'tried and tested' owner and I would never buy another.

Funny that...I saw one on HDUK a few months ago:
hotukdeals.com/ite…r-p

And now I have one sitting in my room
I admit it did cost more than this deal, (and I know its OOS now), but sometimes a colour duplex network laser can be had for under £100.

I know, I couldn't believe it myself, I would have bought another as a backup, but I live in a bedsit and it's full....
