buy a few as a new set of toners is an eye watering £292 (black £71) - though non genuine will be cheaper

Bad idea, the toners which come with it (and most lasers) are only 1/3 the capacity of the standard size. In this case, 500 pages vs. 1500 (or 2500 for the high capacity).

Cheap throw away printer.

A generic black toner for this costs ~ £40 and lasts for ~ 2,500pages, the generic black toners for my HP Laserjet 4000 are < £20 each and last for ~ 10,000 pages.

This is a Windows only/GDI printer, so no sharing across the network or connecting to Linux/Apple Mac either.

I wouldn't even recommend this to the occasional user, due to the 500page toner cartridges it ships with.

Junk!

Isn't the HP4000 a B&W printer?

Absolutely, but why should the black toner for a colour laser be > 8 times more expensive ? ¿

I find the 3year warranty on a £55 printer hilarious, it just shows how desperate Minolta are for consumers to buy into this money wasting machine.

10p a page for a color laser sounds OK to me, seems a decent price for a color laser.

Isn't it 500 pages per toner? The most used will be black but and any colour will come from the others. So it will be more than 500 pages for definite.

Figures quoted are normally at a 5% coverage per page (typical letter).

This deal was also posted some weeks ago .....

Don't touch this with a barge pole! Takes forever to print a single page AND you will need a second mortgage to keep this thing in toner. In fact, it's probably cheaper to buy several printers (complete with pre-loaded toners) and throw the thing away when the toner runs out, because a set of replacement toners will probably set you back at least double what you are paying to begin with.
