Thanks for posting ..hot

Also departing Syria to Kos. Could be a bit busy this summer.

£75 for a week in a refugee camp - bargain

What's not to like?

I was texting a mate out there this morning - he says that the refuges largely keep themselves to themselves but for whatever reason the numbers arriving every day have significantly increased in the last week. So although the Greeks are processing and moving them to the mainland it's becoming a big problem - he said that if you get up at the right time you can see them coming in from the sea! If I was booking for Kos I wouldn't do it more than a few weeks out so you know what you get.

I think 'disgusting hellhole' is pretty wrong of the daily mail, but would put a holiday into perspective when these people have nothing

One thing that should be remembered is that these refugees mentioned earlier in this thread are people deposed by tyrannical forces. The Western forces involvement in this region in the past 10+ years has massively destabilised the area even further. So whilst it's not nice seeing them on the streets and might spoil your holiday spare a thought for men, woman and children who didn't get their holiday spoilt but their entire lives.

No thanks, wouldn't go for free.

Yea, there's a reason this is so cheap. Coooooooooooooooold.

Just got back from a week there, and this has been well exaggerated. Yes there are refugees, but they do not bother anyone and are just congregated close to the police station and are not in anyone's way. This would not effect your holiday in the slightest unless you plan on spending your entire holiday sat outside there with them too???

Link is for the Wed the 3rd not the 4th.

Yes, as always blame the Brits! It's always our fault how they live, even when we go in to countries to take out dictators that are carrying out genocide. We get blamed if we don't help and if we do help, we are the source of the problem!

my negative comment? Im not that negative at all, actually pretty optimistic. But the truth be told, this is going to create allot of begging and eventually robbery. Just going on past situations. I could and hope im wrong. But you go a kos because its a beautiful peaceful island. That isnt what your getting

This X 1000

I ask myself why these refugees have left the fellow Muslim country of Turkey and risked life and limb to get to Greece ? It seems the Turks don't want them messing up their tourist resorts so gladly pass the problem on to Greece. It's Turkey that should be boycotted.

only the daily mail could turn an horrific refugee situation into a brits-abroad sob story.

the article almost reads like a Chris Morris satire.

Wow, that's awful. There is no way that the Daily Mail would write an antagonistic, exaggerated story just to sell a paper. Sheesh, Kos must be awful.

Good news for the deal hunter, go for cheap, maybe you come across a couple of refugees (heaven-forbid, maybe even help them out a bit, buy them a meal), enjoy Kos as pretty much normal the rest of the time and come home smiling at your bargain break.

Horrible reporting from the Daily Mail.

If you are in Kos and come across "Two young migrant mothers breastfeed(ing) their babies" who are sleeping rough on the streets due to fleeing poverty and persecution, rather than see it as inconveniencing your holiday why not give them a few Euros or some food - you can then feel good about yourself and enjoy your bargain holiday even more.

I'd rather have a balanced discussion rather than a reactionary one. So there's two elements, the native oppressors which initiate and substantiate the turmoil in the region and the West who serve their own interests and history has shown that the West and also Russia (think back to 1979 invasion of Afghanistan) haven't helped in the region and have further destabilised it. I'm not anti Brit/UK, but I believe in fairness and tolerance which is why I posted. Ultimately above all, the people who might spoil your holiday are people with emotions/feelings who are not there as wasters but because they have suffered more than any average Brit has on a daily basis. They deserve respect for the unimaginable suffering they've been through.

It's all Cameron's and conservatives fault

God forbid those overweight excess indulged Brits feel uncomfortable with migrants watching them stuff their faces. What a sad society this really is when we have lost all feeling for those less fortunate that ourselves. Have some compassion. Buy the holiday and take some toys out for the kids!

Sounds like london with a beach

I think what the mail might be saying, is that you dont want to go a beautiful place, and have it spoil by this.
But i want to know, what has made these people actually leave there homes? Was they really being persecuted, or was it that they seek a better life, with more money, health etc? The later comes to mind

They bypassed Turkey to get to Europe so, what do you think?
Expect more countries to be bypassed until they get to the UK.

We have the highest welfare spending in the whole of the EU. Welfare spending by central government is double that of germany and double that of Sweden, which is normally thought of as the most loony country in the EU when it comes to spending, but Sweden is not the stupid one. In addition we have the free and great NHS paid for by the taxpayer which is also known as the International Health Service.

Why do you think we have some of the highest immigration figures in the EU. Do you think they come here for the weather?

I understand what your saying, abd there are benefits and welfare in other eu countries. Also illegal immigrants get deported, and are not entitled to these benefits, as a general rule. Only in medical emergency.

I have solution anyway. We put them in a concentration camp. Make them work for free for a whole year, laying roads

As I explained, our welfare spending is the most generous in Europe and is double that of Germany and Sweden but you have chosen to ignore that and make jokes. Anyway, they will claim asylum even though they bypassed Turkey to get to europe. So they will be entitled to free housing, free benefits, free education, NHS, etc all paid for by the taxpayer. Expect this to be paid for by tax rises in the coming years as happened before.
