Great price, great machine. we have one.

How much are the pods usually for these things, and how does the cappuccino/latte compare to:

1) Powdered rubbish from Nescafe/Similar
2) Consumer junk from Starbucks
3) Proper coffee from an italian restaurant (for instance)

I've seen they generally get good reviews. I am a coffee fan but don't drink it all the time (1 or 2 mugs a day, sometimes none). When I do, I want at least a semi-decent mug so i'm interested in seeing how owners would compare the coffee from this machine to the above. I know it will never rival proper homemade italian coffee with freshly ground premium beans etc, but just after a general idea of how it compares - almost as good? half as good?

Also, can you only use the dolce gusto pods or do any of the others work?

amazing price I know this is not one of the new ones from dolce gusto range. But there is no diference between this and the new ones apart from form factor and water tank capacity. This has as big a water capacity as any of them.

As for pods I think its about £3.30 for a box of pods for 8 coffees. But they are very good and This is my personal opinion however I have the dolce gusto (2 years old now) and it still makes coffee as good as the day i bought it. My mum has the tassimo and i feel the coffee from that tastes like its instant. The Dolce gusto has a much more milky taste even although the milk is powdered in the pod. Really nice and the espresso pod has a lovely dark shot of coffee. The latte and cappuccino are the best the chococino or hot choc is nice to but the rest are so so. TBH well worth the £55

Amazon have same price.

10% cashback from cashback sites too making it £50, nearly ordered it last week at £70, total bargain, H&R!

See this thread for cheap pods

OK I caved in and went for the red version. Why?

I craved a cappuccino - no beans left and my cafettiere broke. My Bialetti Mukka Express hasn't been used in months and it seems it wasn't cleaned before puting it away - trust me, it's nasty inside! So, had to make do with a cappuccino sachet... weak tasting 'coffee', very little 'fake' froth, lumpy bits despite 80c water... Not got many coffee shops on way to work so i'm getting this and will take my coffee with me in a travel mug.

Now, does anyone have the dolce gusto one?

Frustratingly there's very little info - how much does it hold? Does it have thermo properties to keep it hot? How sturdy is it etc etc?

Whats the difference between this and The one on the tesco thead?

Don't know which one to get!!
