Just got a new bike and after doing a bit of research, Kryptonite seems to be one of the best. U-locks are also more secure so I've decided to splash out on this. Most shops are doing this for around 40 quid + pnp so I think this is a pretty good price.

Any viable alternatives, please let me know so I can cancel my order!!

Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the lock is!

It really depends on how much you want to spend and how much your bike cost - no lock can protect a bike for very long against a determinded thief but they will usually go for the easiest one to steal e.g. one with no lock at all or just a cheap one that's easy to break.

I use a kryptonite new york 3000 [16mm steel so you'd need at least a 42" cutter to get through it] and a kryptonite 12mm cable with an Abus class 9 diskus securing it round both wheels and the frame and an imovable object. Total cost of just over £60 which is about 10% of the cost of my bike.

The best deal on an kryptonite new york 3000 just now is at Parker International who are doing it reduced from £79.99 to £49.10 delivered: parker-international.co.uk/677…773

I'd also recommmend the Kryptonite New York 3000 lock + cable through the front wheel (and water bottle cage - had that nicked before!). If you can justify the cost, I'd also recommend the ]Pinhead locking skewers
