Yes and it will keep happening because police won’t do anything about it the attitude the lady at the station gave me on the phone was unreal like oh I’m not bothered about your petty bike theft! Sorry that’s bull crap we pay our taxes work hard buy nice things and they get stolen by scum benefit scrounged the same ones that commit other crimes which the police are too busy with! So we get the crap end of the stick again arghhh makes me sooo mad!
the ones that stole my latest bike were not foreign they were chavs from the Nottingham Beeston area! Apparently it was her grandads bike that he’s had for a few years but he can’t ride it anymore because he’s gone blind !!!!! I told her the bike was only made end of 2018 how’s your blind grandad had it that long!!!! Unbelievable!!!! Scumbags!
Lol
The seat is likely the least valuable bit of kit on your bike. They can be replaced for less than a fiver if you're a thief and just want to sell it on quickly.
If a thief sees a bike with a decent lock that would require a minute of work from an angle grinder or a bike with a cheap lock thst only requires half decent bolt cutters they'll choose the bike with the worse lock
There are very few sub £10 locks that you could get through with a half decent set of bolt cutters these days. Hardened steel is cheap as chips.
So in this scenario they're wandering around with both bolt cutters and an angle grinder? They'll choose the bike they think they'll get the most for.
The average opportunist thief will have bolt cutters at most, and the smallertype that can be concealed easier, they'll try for the easiest bike to steal, not the most expensive, the average bike thief is just after anything to sell on to feed a habit.
Actual targetted bike thiefs are different and really the only ones that would have a grinder, out to get a specific bike, or the most expensive they can lay there hands on.
I was going to unbelievable but a actually I totally believe it !! Makes me so so so angry!
Seriously !! Two bikes brand new stolen within 6 months one from staff parking at the hospital one from our apartment corridor! Both locked with apparently unbreakable locks !!! And according to the police bike you thefts are a daily problem that’s why she said they can’t do anything about it !!
let me guess did they "invite" the thief to attend via letter which was subsequently ignored?
When I had my bike stolen, (description, serial number, postcode on their database as hammered in via their bike team) ..they recovered it, failed to look at the bike , failed to look at recent report filed.... 6 months later I stopped a kid cycling on it who she police had given it to because it went "unclaimed" apparantly.
My experience with the police is cack, they suck in my area & really deserve the bad reputation they've garnered!
Yes, rechargeable grinder & a mate to cover you as look out, ..as witnessed myself in a busy city centre in broad daylight.
Omg they are an absolute joke! No wonder these unsavoury people are stealing bikes because they know they will get away with it!!
