Maximum security and compact in size, the Messenger Mini & U-Lock Extender from Kryptonite combats theft and keeps your bike safe and secure.

Looking for a lock for my son's bike as he returns to Uni. Given the high chance of his bike ( my old Trek) being nicked this seemed a good investment. The extension piece apparently makes it easier to lock on the front wheel, and it's not too heavy, although I've told him to leave it fastened to the bike stall.
Seems to be over £50 in most suppliers.

Yeah... A couple of years ago some t**ts stole my bike that was secured by kryptonite u-lock. They cut the steel post it was attached to and took the bike with the lock intact.
Unfortunately in this day and age this will only stop an opportunist thief who happens to be passing.
If a scumbag really wants your bike they'll have the lock cut off within 30 seconds with a cordless angle grinder
£5 off with a new account and code NEWGB5
Just bought this for my electric bike thanks

Locks can never stop determined thieves. If they want it, they will get it, if they want it enough.

For this reason, Kryptonite actually offer the Anti-Theft Protection Offer, which is a paid protection program (almost like an insurance). Depending on the lock you get from them, the maximum limit of the compensation varies.
The extender looks very weak actually, make sure you still look the frame and rear wheel using the U-lock.

It's not a replacement for actual insurance since their requirements for payout are stringent. It's things like the damaged lock must be sent off to kryptonite for failure analysis, but if it's not complete or the thief has taken your lock then no payout.

Yes, definitely, I should have mentioned that. It is much cheaper than an insurance though. Thanks for bringing that up.

This video suggests that these new locks would require 2 cuts with an angle grinder to get the shackle off, about as good as you're going to get. Park your bike in plain sight where using such a tool would be too risky or hide it away somewhere where passing miscreants are unlikely to discover it.
Expired? Showing as £49.89 for me.
