I don't think that these locks are any better than the cheaper ones, except for the service that Kryptonite provide. While I was using one of these locks my bike was nicked, but I had registered with Kryptonite and their insurance provided me with a new bike. I still use one of these locks on my replacement bike for that reason. They also provide replacement keys (for free) if like me you manage to loose/break one.

Just be aware you are paying for the service more than the hardware.

Good price too, hot.

I've used one of these on my road bike in the East of London for 4 years and it hasn't been touched! When thieves usually see these they don't even bother.

good price!
Also in stock at Tredz tredz.co.uk/.Kr…htm who will price match if you ring them up (IME).

I thought I'd just bought a secure bike lock but it seems everyone leaves these locks... I paid a 5th of what my bike is worth for a lock though

I believe these locks are particularly effective because they are too thick for the standard thief issue bolt cutters to get their jaws around. Unless that's a different New York lock.

I got essentially the same thing, but with a flexible cord lock as well, for about the same at Evan's Cycles. Not great, price-wise, from me.

Not bad for a gold rated lock, and as others have said above even if your bike gets nicked using it, your insurance or theirs should hopefully pay out

better … better bargainhttp://www.fatbirds.co.uk/538475/products/kryptonite-new-york-legend-chain-and-padlock-90-cm.aspxboltcutters will go through a bracket but not the kryptonite chain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVjlumO9bWwchain featured in video is the NY fahgettaboudit http://www.fatbirds.co.uk/1432/products/kyrptonite-new-york-fahgettaboudit-chain-and-padlock-100-cm.aspx

Do you not realise what you've just done? Classic HUKD error.

*Posts item for 3 times more, claims it's a comparable deal*

@Taz1529 I'm not poo-pooing the original deal one bit. Its just that both items are comparable on a level thats not price, value. The value of not having your bike nicked by using the most robust anti-theft device (thats the use of both bracket & chain afterall).

Totally agree , can't compare a lock to a lock like that . Like comparing a house worth 100,000 to one costing 3 times as much. Hot initial deal tho

This deal is super..............man!

That lock is not essentially the same, it's a lower grade than the one posted in the deal and not as tough so you can't compare them.

Also, £45 is expensive for the Evolution Mini 7 and cable - I paid £31 for the same package through Tredz on their ebay store, looks like it can still be had for under £35.

That has a thinner shackle making it more vulnerable to bolt croppers, and is only Sold secure silver rated, whereas the Kryptonie NY is gold rated.

Good deal but wouldn't buy of fat birds again. Had credit card fraud after last time i used them. Card had only been used for that purchase too.

had my bike stolen yesterday :(. thieving barsteward bolt clipped my lock which I suppose this would withstand against but it is a lot more than I paid for mine but worth it if your bike is worth a fair bit.

Check out YouTube on how to use a Bic pen to open the lock :-(

You can't open this lock with a bic pen, that problem affected locks with tubular keys and not just kryptonite either.

I am currently working in Holland and have been for the last couple of years, so far 2 of my bikes have been stolen with one being stolen jsut last week.

I had a solid padlock and chain on mine but the problem here is the bike thieves don't use bolt cutters they use battery powered angle grinders no lock stands a chance!

These did sell out but have since restocked.

Ceased the opportunity and have ordered one
