This is so hot I need to strum myself!

Got one of these from Edinburgh Cycle Co about 6 months ago for same price. Very good lock, well worth the money.

By the way, does anyone know where you can buy just the flex cable from as already have a d-lock. Cheers

I've seen the cable itself on both Amazon and Halfords. however for the price of just the cable you may aswell just pay a bit more and get another D-lock with it. Ive always used two to lock my bike up. Its the best way.

Yes cheapest for the cable seems to be £10. So £10 gets another d lock

Good deal!

My OH was after good lock, that seems to fit the bill

Does this have one of those brackets to clip it to the frame whilst riding

These are ok BUT, the bracket pin on the lock itself either isn't meant to stay still or is broken but mine now spins around freely and I have to rest it on the frame for it to stay still.

It sounds like the paint has come away aswell or there hasn't been adequate glue applied or whatever they use.

I'm not sure who to contact, Amazon or Kryptonite?

The best way would be to have two completely different styles of lock.

Pretty good lock for the money, but I wouldn't trust it in a high risk area with an expensive bike, can still be off in a few seconds with a couple of the 'right' tools.

And test them first :

Anglegrinder
and
Thermite

(Two fun choices).

Would that suffice to meet Superman's needs?

a very good lock for the price, make sure you give the lock mechanism a good spray of WD40,can be sticky at times

Very good lock at a decent price. Have one on my hack bike in the bike store but was looking for one to leave out at the office for the other end of the commute on the road bike during the summer (save carrying a lock). This will do perfectly. Thanks

I have one of these. Very good lock. I got it in a sale about 4 years ago for £24.99 and it's still going strong.

The extra cable is perfect for securing the wheels. Then just feed one of the loops around the main d-lock.

Yes someone could get through the main lock if they were really determined with the right tools. But as long as you lock it in a proper place (where someone would have a hard time working on it) you can trust a medium expensive bike with it (<£1000)

Heat from me

Ordered, thank OP. Been looking for a better lock for a while

Would this attach to a bike with the supplied mount and withstand mountain biking on trials without coming loose?

i couldnt put mount mine on my bike, got in the way of my legs, dont reckon the bracket would be strong enough for mountain biking as its only plastic and not very strong

This lock on Amazon had 15 ratings of 1-star, including many posters saying they had their bikes stolen with it.

What about this one instead, which is only £5 more? Not a lot in cost compared to the value of a typical bike. This insurer want to see a "sold secure silver lock" for bikes £300-1600.

OK I've just read the second link in the article body, which suggests its' silver secure, and indeed it does appear on that insurers list now I look more closely haha...

Still.. it's getting reviews like this? Doesn't inspire confidence.

"I read a number of reviews for this lock before purchasing it and felt that my bike was very secure with this u-lock and the accompanying cable lock. Unfortunately my bike was stolen less than 2 months after I bought it (from a seemingly secure gated underground carpark). Viewing of the cctv footage shows that the lock was broken in less than a minute with little or no difficulty. I agree with other reviewers that locks such as this should not even be sold unless they have a warning that they are for bikes worth VERY little (mine was worth 800)."

If some oik wants your bike they will have it no matter what you secure it with and even more expensive gold secure locks can be defeated just as quickly. What you need to remember is these oiks know how to defeat them quickly and if they don't they can strip the good parts off and sometimes just leave the frame.
A work colleague had his garage ram-raided to get at his carbon full suspension ibis mojo (over 6k's worth of bike) which was secured to multiple anchors in the concrete and secured to the wall by other locks......that was done in the space of around 15mins while he nipped to the corner shop, just an example as it goes to show they WILL have your bike and no lock is guaranteed tbh.
