It was used regularly on trans-pennine routes (Snake pass and Woodhead). The car was c.750kg and passed many other vehicles on every trip, and corned brilliantly. I don't think wheel barrow wheels would have cut the mustard.

In 2021, I always beat Tesla or any sports car. You simply cant get from A to B any quicker on the UK congested roads. Every bend has a speed camera, motorways have average speed measuring devices. You may get from 0 to 60 quicker but for the journey, you gain nothing. These little Citroen C1s happily run along at 70 mph on the motorway, cost from £20 down to £0 to tax a year, run on a timing chain and have a unbreakable TOYOTA engine. You can park it in any corner without hassle and no one wants to nick it or cut your cat converter off. The days of owning my Cavalier SRi, booming along the motorway at 120 and driving from Kent to Hull in 3 hours flat as speed cameras did not exist are well and truely gone. 45544825-jHYEY.jpg

These tyres are T rated - 118 mph.

What road are you driving on where you can go faster than that ?

Isn't it something of a rule not to mix tyre tread patterns or brands, especially not if between 2 fronts or 2 rears? OK to get you home but you left the tyre on?

    Ordered my 1 x Kumho Ecowing ES31 205/55 R16 V (91) for £49.75.

Had read this post and then saw email from Black Circles in junk mail. Nearly bought a tyre a couple of days ago and glad I didn't.

    Thanks OP

You're not going over 118mph in a Pug 107, it'll shake itself to pieces before the tyres fail.

It doesn’t matter what speed you go, you need to use the speed rating set by the manufacturer otherwise you’ll invalidate your insurance. Tyres are the only thing between your car and the road…

its a no name, but the D and B ratings are the same (same same grip and efficiency rating via independent testing), it's quieter and it's cheaper

used to look at ratings until I found out they are not independently assessed and are virtually meaningless; stick to the brands, since there are only 4 things between you and the tarmac when you apply the brakes.

    There is such a rule.

But it's for radial & cross-ply tyres, and if you can find a cross-ply tyre for a car these days, you win a coconut!

    😁😁😁😁😁

Similar type tyres are ok, but a winter tyre & summer tyre on the same axle would be doob.

If what you said was true for all, then you'd need an entirely new set of tyres each time you replaced one when the manufacturer came out with a new version of the tyre. (edited)

many manufacturers have limits on the difference in tread depth too.
most people dont care, but i always change all 4 every time. (within reason)
