Just came across this on Homebase when looking for a firepit. I know these don't last long if left out but the reviews seem pretty decent and for £16.95 I thought you cannot go wrong. I know this is not reduced or on sale but I thought it was a good price considering the exact same model is £30 in Argos!

Enjoy the warmth of a real wood fired patio heater, with the contemporary La Hacienda outdoor fire basket . This fire basket will add a touch of style to any garden. Simple in its design, but highly effective; this fire basket will provide an ideal centrepiece for your garden patio.

  • Made from 100% steel.
  • Size H45, W53, D39cm.
  • Weight 3.2kg.
  • 1 person self-assembly.

Nice but i prefer a Chiminea

Each to their own I guess! I have had a Chiminea and do like them but this is a perfect set up for me given the way my rattan furniture is laid out plus this size is just right so I have done a C+C and will pick up after work!
Never had anything like this - is it difficult to get it going?

No, it is very simple. You can either use firelighters to get it going before adding logs or kindling wood or you can use cardboard and paper to get it going like I do. I put it together yesterday and used it last night. It was perfect!
Will last a summer, at least the local tip now has ‘metals only’ area.

yup it might only last a summer if you leave it out but if you store it correctly then at least you have a chance of it lasting longer. However, this is only £16.95, so it isn't breaking the bank.
Nice find @brettytopbanana found quite a bit of stock about too
Compressed wood blocks last longer and leave little ash compared to wood in these.

Things like these are even better

If you have home bargains around you these fire bricks are available for 99p last for about 2 hours and very easy to light up - no faffing with firelighters etc and very little smoke & ash.
