It's alwys been this price at Amazon?
£23.99 at Smyths if you have a store near you which has stock.
Needs an sd card memory to run doesn’t it?
No the physical version doesn’t need an SD card you can play through the first few cases and then you will require the 14GB download but if you have room on the internal storage it can go on there

This game any good on switch?

This game any good on switch?

It's the same game but portable - so if you liked it before you'll like it now.
PSA: From what I've heard, this game on Switch is unfortunately riddled with slowdown issues when both docked and undocked, occasionally running worse than even the PS3, dipping into the low 20s (albeit with slightly improved graphics). And when the framerate decreases in this game, so does the speed of the engine.

Still, if you're fine with that, this is a great game, especially on the go! Heat.

As someone who owns and plays it, I can tell you that's not the case. Smooth game-playing throughout.

N64 quality? Do you mean this game is as good as ocarina of time?

Have you even played this game? If you unlock the frame rate which is capped to 30fps originally the game becomes impossible to play (certain chase scenes will always fail).

Also no amount of native resolution is going to make up for the low-res textures used in-game.

Or play it at Switch-quality on PC for less :). The beauty of PC gaming is that you can spend as little or as much as you want, when you want. No forced upgrades

Nothing against PC gaming, I do it myself but this is detracting from the point that I can whack this in my switch and play it anywhere. You just can't do that with a PC.
Also £26 in-store at the local Tesco here.

That's true, which is why I have a Switch as well as a PC. But that only justifies the Switch hardware and the platform as a whole.

It doesn't justify why the game itself is £26. Nintendo games are massively overpriced, I think that's difficult to deny.

You can look at it like this - twice the price of their PC counterparts, twice the resale value. It's also a small price for convenience of portability.

It's not really for the convenience of portability that we are paying twice the price.
You can't compare an old release from 2011 to keep its retail cost and then expect a new platform port to cost the same.

The game also re-released for the PS4 and Xbox one, those copies are still floating around £20+.

New releases = higher costs.
Nintendo tax = higher cost.
Nintendo switch games = better resale rates.

I've sold all my Switch games at roughly a £2-7 loss to a £5 profit per game.

Mario Odyssey bought £37, sold £30
Skyrim £37, sold £35
Mk8 £32, sold £35
Xenoblade £30, sold £32
Marrio & rabbids £37, £30

I'm sure La Noire would be an easy resell at £20 after completing. Can't do that with the pc copy.

Deleted my previous comment as I misread what you had put. Agree with everything but portablity is the big sell for me.

Handheld mode is the main reason I got the switch. I have a 4k TV, PS4 pro and a gaming pc. But there's just this difference of putting the switch in one of those metal arms that you place a tablet in. Laying in bed with the screen placed anywhere comfortable compared to propping up the pillows and having to sit up infront off a TV screen.

(Free handing the joycons is probably the most comfortable gaming position possible).

Which gives the switch priority appeal currently.

Btw my other comment wasn't fully aimed at you. But it wouldn't let me quote the guy defending pc gaming along with your comment on cost for portability.

33321386-YcR4A.jpgI got the older version of arm. But does the job well. Gives plenty of options to either sit infront off it, lay down with it at an angle, or lay down with the screen directly above you.

The switch spends most of its time in that arm with the power lead plugged in.

Yeah the resale value is definitely strong. In fact that was the only reason I bought the Switch. I could try it out knowing that if I didn't like it I would only lose £20-30 when selling it.

But still, I don't think that "justifies" it as such. To take it to an extreme, if games were £1,000 on the Switch but had a resell value of £995, it would be pretty bad.

Love it. I've got all the bells and whistles on my TV - Philips POS9002 OLED 4K etc etc. My consoles are never plugged into it though - PS4 is played via Vita and the Switch never goes near it either - because kids. So things like this are great, thanks for the tip I'll have a look into it (our headboard would suit the grip arm too, very solid).

Glad to help! haha

Seems like portable mode is your way of getting some peace and quiet gaming time!

This seems a strange way to look at it though. I bought the hardware. I shouldn’t be penalised for it. I mean it doesn’t cost more to make the game for the switch than it does a PS4 or Xbox. Yet we are being hit for it like it does. It’s not fair.
