switch - "pay for blunt edge technology"

Wait, I remember this.. Played it 6 years ago, decent game! Why would someone pay £36? When you can buy it on PS3 for £3?

While I want to say something clever and witty I do kinda agree, this game was badass when it came out and I suppose the novelty of playing it on the switch on the go would be sweet.

Completed this on the 360.can't imagine It has much replay value for anytime who has already played it despite being a good game

I guess the same reason why they will pay £45/50 for the forthcoming Doom & Skyrim, great games to have portable on the go, and I do agree they are overpriced but if this is the cheapest price at the mo then it's a god deal for those who don't mind paying.. the Switch is fast becoming a great little console

considering i own both Doom and Skyrim on PC and Xbox One i refuse to buy them for anything more than £20. They will be a long wait to drop in price.

Just one thing you conveniently omitted, buying this game on Switch for 36 quid today is far more akin to buying that Star Wars box set on Betamax for 100 quid today rather than on Blu-ray for a bully

Have added heat as it’s a great price if you want this on Switch, but it’s going to need to drop further for me to pick it up for my Switch. Hell, I won’t even be buying this for PS4 as it really looks like they haven’t added anything to make it look better. Just looks really dated from the trailer they released recently.

If Rockstar really wanted to release something cheap and easy on Switch, they should have released GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas on Switch in a trilogy set. I’d rather play those.

Would this be worth it for someone who never played the original game?

No.

Might skip this and get doom instead. Since it has multiplayer

Because the Switch doesn’t play PS3 games

Have you actually played a switch?

Or are you just about graphics?
and I'd say it's more like buying the original version and not the messed with Lucas versions where fancy graphics took over from actual substance.

They might not have a PS3

Thanks for the tip. I'll take that £25 saving and buy a gaming PC.

Yeah I have played on a Switch and I even bought one a few days ago it’s getting sent back to John Lewis today.

Erm having spent a couple of K on a 65 inch 4K HDR telly about 6 months ago and also being sat in the position of about to take delivery of two Xbone X’s in the next week or so I am about graphics yeah, if you prefer the picture on a 1977 20 inch CRT with the slot you put 50 pence coins in from DER dating back to the period that the first Star Wars came out in the cinema good for you but that said no I’m not just about the graphics. I’d like to think myself a person more than happy to embrace the enhanced experience that the advancements in the latest technology available offer, is that bad?

Oh and finally I actually went to junior school with Kenny Baker’s son Chris so was rather close to that whole Star Wars phenomenon at the time, I didn’t even know they had removed the substance of those older releases by tweaking the picture settings on them in more recent times but I’m no Barry Norman so what do I know?

Wish the remastered version was coming to PC. Terrific game, deserves the attention.

Switch-hating is the new meta. I thought people knew that around here?!

I'll probably bite eventually, but too much to get through first. When I get the time, this will probably drop to about £25 or so, as it's not published by Nintendo itself.

Star Wars gets remastered, upscaled. CGI enhancements (if you call them improvements). Watch a VHS of Star Wars, then watch the Blu-ray. The difference is huge.

That comparison makes no sense. You conveniently omitted that the switch IS the newer technology, so of course you pay a premium. We see the same thing on all new consoles, it's nothing new..

Pay a premium for a last gen game that’s had someone wipe a duster with a bit of Mr Sheen on it round the edges, a game that wasn’t anywhere near as well received as so many other titles by that developer?

Just because we see it on all the other new consoles don’t make it right, I have criticised full priced remasters on every platform so this ain’t even about the Nintendo fan bee in my bonnet.

It may be the ‘newer technolgy’ but the point is the Switch is still sort of on a par with PS3 performance wise so this ain’t even really a remaster, it’s invariably a port six years on.

It’s not worth even half the price on any of the current gen machines, least of all the Switch version.

Exactly, the Nintendo Fanboy's take this as a deflection to the console. I don't care about the Switch. What I do care about is the dangerous precedent of paying basically AAA price's for what is a port 6 years down the line.

I didn't say it's 'right' that it should be full price. Im saying it's nothing new.

Anyone looking the Switch version should check this out incase it bothers you

L.A. Noire Switch file size, physical version requires 14GB download
Even if you’re purchasing the physical version of L.A. Noire, you’ll still need to download extra data. The game will have a 14GB day-one download “containing required gameplay data as well as general bug fixes and improvements.” It can be installed on either Switch’s internal storage or a microSD card.

Good spot, that's a lot of download size! Guess that's the price you pay for having games on cart.. will deffo pass on this, both through price and now this, I am waiting for Resident Evil to fill my memory up!

It's kind of a lose/lose situation with Nintendo and Rockstar, they finally release a game on Switch but it's massively overpriced for what it is and the PS4 and XB1 versions seem to be cheaper. For that reason I can't see many people buying this on Switch which will reflect on RockStar probably never putting another game Switch. Why didn't they put GTAV on the Switch instead? That's much more worth the full price tag.

Not a problem, the Switch having as good as zero on board storage poses no issues whatsoever There's quite literally legions of Nintendo fans on here saying so.

You said my comparison made no sense, if I was to be wholly accurate in my analogy I should have said the LA Noire version coming to the Switch is akin to a standard DVD coming to what might just about be a Blu-ray player then

If they're doing this to see if it will be worth developing a Switch version of RDR2 you could see their logic but at the same time LA Noire was not Rockstar's greatest moment and as we keep saying it's full price so I can't see it selling that we'll at all.

Maybe it's a double edged ploy to 'prove' why it's not worth bringing any other Rockstar titles to the platform? Whether that would be coming from Nintendo's angle, Rockstar's slant on it or a bit of both would be very interesting to know if it was the case?

If you were all about graphics you wouldn't waste your money on a faux-4K xbox, you would have a top end PC that has proper 4K / ultrawide (which is far better than 4K) and none of the pop-in. XboxX is a most pointless console, the Switch already has a better game library than the xbox.

The new Assassin's Creed, Cuphead, Call of Duty, Destiny, Forza, Middle-earth, PUBG, Star Wars, Super Lucky's Tale and Wolfenstein can not be played on the Switch. Yet the Xbox One X is a pointless console and the Switch has a better library?!?
