Never heard of this brand, so would rather go for an established Brother, Dymo etc type printer as getting replacement or OEM labels is going to be alot easier, but here's a review nonetheless:

Looks good but are there third party cartridges as their own ones are very expensive

LEITZ "ARE" An Established Brand LOL, just because they are German doesn't make them less established...
You've obviously never been in a STAPLES Store, they are a massive German stationary brand and Quality at that, I would say they were a Premium Brand personally, and this is a FANTASTIC price for this printer I admit I don't know anything about compatibles, so that would be a concern, but This is a cracking little Thermal transfer printer.

The reviews suggest Royal mail printing is a little hit and miss due to size changes, but an Amazon review shows a work around that he hasn't had any returns from so seems viable.

Hot deal for the Product though!! Great spot!

Then it's a bit silly claiming it's a good label printer when you don't know how easy or difficult it is to obtain different labels at an economical price.

No, it can be a good label printer regardless of the availability of third party supplies. I like the idea of the variable length labels, can see some interesting uses for this.

A label printer is only as good as the availability and cost of replacement labels.

Do you really think that £17+ for 225 basic address labels is good value for money?

That's 8p per label. That's a ridiculous cost if you're sending out mailshots.
Very good price for printer, ( some people selling on eBay up to £247.79p) you can by the optional Li-ion battery pack which lasts up to 12 hours or 1200 labels, good find op

Not 'Silly' at all, it IS a GOOD PRICE FOR THE PRINTER and I expressed the same concern for the cost of compatibles.. as I know nothing about then ...WHY?? Because the NORMAL PRICE for this printer is way out of my price range despite its functions, so I had never looked into it any further , but in case you hadn't noticed the PRICE for this DEAL is 50% off, so I stand by my comments and would respectfully ask you to ignore my posts if you don't want to read them properly and pick out words to suit your own argument. GREAT PRICE OP for this Printer...
Looks a good deal - might give this a go for our office.
label refills look expensive.
So not really a good deal for anyone.
As if you print that many labels, its much cheaper to buy a Dymo in the long run.
Anyone who dont print many labels - then is it worth spending £50 compared to just writing out the address with a pen!
All printers have low device pricing then kill you with consumables, same as with those Tassimo coffee machines people buy. Good price for the device but cost to run seems high, so the practicality of long term and anything beyond minimal to moderate use I'd question the economy of it.

Its silly to recommend it when you don't know the price and availability of replacement labels.
i am seeking a label printer for shipping my goods. i use my hermes, parcelforce and royal mail. parcelforce has a pop up label from the management tool and my hermes a a4 page with two labels. does this handle those with ease of are there any others that would be better at this price of below??

FFS you couldn't even do me the courtesy of 'ignoring' my posts... I think perhaps you need to have a think about what the site is about (actually) not your perception that it is solely about cheap cheap cheaper at all costs.... it is about informing other people about "deals" on a particular product, like the OP has , this isn't a good deal FOR YOU as you can't find super cheap compatible labels.... and I agree with the comments from nandbb, super_leads and Bojangles, this is the case with virtually ALL printers, so nothing new there, BUT if you are interested in this printer THIS IS A GREAT DEAL as also above perfect for an office labelling system, that's what it's really aimed at impo. but it has a lot of pretty exclusive features for such a small convenient printer, plastic, card, labels, Continuous rolls!! which incidentally you could get well over 300 88mm labels from and the reference above to whether it is worth spending £50 for just saving writing with a pen is obviously valid, but we are all different, and even for incidental use my handwriting is abysmal, I'm an engineer but should have been a Doctor with my handwriting so printing address labels shows a far neater and more professional impression, so yes , considering there is no ink to dry up etc and a 22m roll cut to any length is a very viable purchase! you seem to have assumed that the only people who might want one are "eBay sellers", (yes I've started your game and made an assumption )

seriously though, state your opinion, its as valid as mine or anyone else's, but don't attack other peoples opinions just because they differ from your own, and accept that 50% off anything is a deal, by your reckoning no one would ever buy an iPhone /iPad..well anything apple EVER, as they are extortionately expensive, but guess what if it suits people and they want one 50% off the price would constitute a bargain and negate any ongoing expenses, but I've fallen into your trap and am spoiling a great DEAL THREAD, so you win, youre right, I am silly, I STILL think this is a GREAT price for this Printer, and they are a VERY ESTABLISHED BRAND

Hopefully someone who has one can confirm, but personally I very much doubt this is suitable for that application as the labels are only 88mm wide so at best even if it did have software to achiev it you would be sticking strips together which obviously is far from ideal so I think its a fairly defibite NO

Versatile

If it costs hundreds of pounds in having to buy overpriced labels over the life of the printer, it's clearly NOT a good deal!!!

looking at the video it looks like it would be quite easy to refill with some generic thermal labels as it appears to just be a case the printers sit inside thats recyclable - youtube.com/wat…yYI
youtube.com/wat…aQU
Looks like they are just traying to stop somone using a cheap roll of labels of ebay, but cant see why if you match up the label size on a roll it couldnt just sit in an old used original starter pack.
The only issues could be is on the back of labels they often have black markers to tell the printer its the end of the label, so the labels you get will need to be the same.. bit like buying cheapo dymo labels

EXACTLY my original comment to be fair I never bought them on cost grounds, as I never 'needed' that quality level, but I always appreciated the quality of all of their products

Glad to see a few more people can actually see the value here, I'd also figured engineering some refill wasn't going to be rocket science, in some respects, the quality of their bespoke packaging gives a lot of potential for solid re-engineering the old cartridges,

Go do WH Smiths if you want a folder. You don't need to buy one from Germany.

And you still haven't provided any links to a range of cost effective labels. It seems to be a point lost on you but a label printer is only as good as the range, cost and availability of labels. Even on the official Leitz website they direct you to a company in Estonia for B2C orders: leitz.com/en-…01/ The price of Leitz labels is also likely to go up after Brexit as Theresa May won't be bothered about negotiating cheap printer labels from Europe when we have UK based companies already providing the same thing in greater volume and at a lower cost.
Picard123, I asked you to ignore my posts, as you seem intent on banging the same old drum without actually looking or listening to anything that is responded, I then said "so you win, you're right, I am silly" followed up by a PM saying please quit arguing with my posts when you are just sullying a thread and that I wouldn't be replying for that reason! You've lured me in again, suckered by the TROLL...DOH!! silly me.. I have no intention of searching the internet for you, as if you re-read my first comment [something you don't seem capable of doing incidentally] you will see" I admit I don't know anything about compatibles, so that would be a concern so it is you that cannot understand that 1)not everyone wants to use the printer for 000's of labels and 2) some people are more resourceful with regard to finding alternative refills as has been suggested by the posters above. so enjoy listening to your own voice, I can no longer hear it nor will I respond to it...I'll say it again... YOU ARE RIGHT THANK GOD YOU CAME HERE TO INFORM US THANK YOU (_;)
