Is the hard drive inside this 1 x 1000GB or 2 x 500GB?

the 'width' of 6.5cm is about twice the height of my 500gb lacie.

This 2*500 based on that alone.
Good price, and a neat solution. but is it quiet?

Although I like LaCie products I'd rather pay a little more and buy a Western Digital My Book 2 Home Edition 1TB USB 2.0 Firewire & eSata External Hard Drive, £150.53 delivered. It is a single drive, has the triple interface and, has a 16MB cache as opposed to the LaCie's 8MB. It is pretty small too (5.4 cm x 13.7 cm x 16.6 cm). ;-)

Its 2x500gb which is a bad idea - 2 discs means that if either disc goes you lose all your data - would be better off with two seperate 500gb units or one 1tb disc

The Western Digital My Book 2 Home Edition 1TB USB 2.0 Firewire & eSata External Hard Drive I mentioned is a single drive.

Its 2x500gb which is a bad idea - 2 discs means that if either disc goes you lose all your data - would be better off with two seperate 500gb units or one 1tb disc
That is not actually correct. It would depend upon how your data was being written to the drives, how the drives were partitioned and, which drive had failed.

I agree though that you're better off having a single drive, not because it makes you safer, because it doesn't, but because it's more energy efficient and takes up less space. 8-)

*REMEMBER :- Always back up your data on a separate drive. :geek:
