Good looking drive, this is the older version so be interesting to see if it used the same internal drive as the 2018 version, which is £50 more!!!

Which Porsche is this designed to look like?

None of their current line up.... they all look the same
I dont think its meant as a comestic comparison - notice it looks like a brick? Its carrying the porsche name in relation to how it handles.
And just like german cars, its focus is on appearing tough and durable to consumers.
But i doubt it has an HSGT or even ironwolf or WD red in it......

None - the design is by Porsche Design, which is an entirely different company to Porsche AG (who make cars and other vehicles).
0-60 time?
I can't see Porsche endorsing a product like this. Anyway it's the model of HDD inside that counts. If it's Seagate or Samsung, forget it!

That is definitely not how it works

Actually, it's not a separate company at all, just a division of Porsche AG:

"Porsche Design Group, based in Ludwigsburg, Germany, was founded in November 2003 as a majority-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG to combine Porsche AG's and Porsche Design Group's accessories and licensing business into one single company"

Lacie are now owned by seagate so it's safe to assume whats inside

No - both Porsche Design and Porsche AG are part of the Porsche SE holding company. But the Porsche Design Group (who designed this disk drive) have nothing to do with the design or manufacture of Porsche vehicles, and pd is certainly not a division of Porsche AG.
While it looks a newer design I've consistently had these 'Porsche' drives fail catastrophically on me in the past. I'd avoid like the plague from my personal experience.

Yes I read that on wikipedia then they had a reshuffle and Porsche design was moved from AG to SE in 2007
Bit ugly actually, especially with Porsche emblazoned on it.
Is that supposed to make a hard drive more desirable?

VAG design then.

That is how it works in my eyes.
Reviews say it’s a little slow. Anybody actually order one of these?

Actually that's not accurate. Porsche Design is a wholly owned subsidiary of Porsche SE. Porsche SE owns a 31.5% in Volkswagen AG, and Volkswagen AG owns 100% of Porsche AG. Porsche AG is not part of the Porsche SE holding company. So in fact Porsche Design is a division of the company which owns the majority share in the company that owns the Porsche car manufacturer! Funnily enough, given that Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed both cars (911) and accessories for Porsche Design, it would be fair enough to say that it has something to do with it, as a brand. I.e. it is the same Porsche you're talking about, not a completely unrelated company (e.g. the Bugatti motor company vs the German clothing and accessories brand Bugatti, which share the same name but have never had the remotest connection).

Yes, that's the one! I love those boxy beauties really
A "Porsche" for under £100?.

What next, a Lamborgini for £150 as well perhaps?, hehehehe. :-D
I remember 10+ years ago there was a Porsche designed External box like this. Porsche designed is nothing new and does not mean its designed like a sports car. Look at the case, yes its blocky but compared to a piece of moulded plastic it is a nice design.
If only the inside was as good as the outside. I don't like the idea of losing 4TB of data.
Heat for the price though.

Its emits diesel fumes rather than having a visual appeal
Got one of these a few years ago. Picks up scratches really easy. Mine looks like someone has keyed it.

Is it to do with the heat dissipation? You know, these have mechanical motors. I can't see any ventilation vents on this or are they relying on the hot plate case? Can I cook an egg on it?

Volvo - They're boxy, but they're good. Emory Leeson.

850R? A proper workhorse motor.
Hurray it's actually got a on/off switch 😁
Thanks for posting.
